EMNLP 2012
*
The SIGDAT committee has voted to hold EMNLP 2012 in one of the following two locations in Asia in 2012, consistent with our continental rotation practice. Please vote for your preference:
Collocated with ACL 2012 and held jointly with CoNLL, July 12-14, in Jeju, Korea
Collocated with Coling 2012, December, in India (details TBA)
EMNLP 2011
EMNLP 2011 will be held at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, from July 25-29, 2011, as a major stand-alone meeting with 3 days of main conference and 2 days of workshops. Workshop proposals are encouraged. This will likely be the only NLP conference in Europe in 2011.

A lower acceptance rate (~20%) to keep quality very high and minimize parallel tracks
A higher acceptance rate (~25-30%) with greater acceptance diversity, more posters and more parallel sessions

EMNLP Full Paper length
Now that ACL/EMNLP proceedings are essentially all electronic, should we retain the standard 8 pages + references page limit? Longer page limits would allow for more material to be presented, but may tax reviewer and reader patience and lead to a paper-length arms race.
Retain the current 8 pages + references limit
Expand the camera-ready page limit to 10 plus references
Retain the 8-page core paper limit, but allow a reasonable quantity of appendix material including additional examples, tables, code, references, experimental details, finer-grained results)
Expand the camera-ready page limit to 10, plus the appendix material described above
