Across the country, students and young people are struggling to pay for the rising cost of a higher education while the minimum wage stays stagnant. Over 50 percent of students pursuing an Associate’s degree and 33 percent of students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree work at least 35 hours per week, cutting into their ability to study and engage their campus, only to see the average graduate is $25,000 in debt. We were told that if we worked hard, studied, and went to college that we'd be on the way to the American Dream... Instead, we're graduating with more debt than any generation before with less job opportunities than our parents or grandparents.
Now we're asking you to share your stories as we tell Congress together: It's time to raise the wage! 4.4 million student workers – more than 3 out of every 5 student workers – would see their paychecks rise as a result of the Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2012.
