These are commonly used environmental  terms and expressions. Choose the correct term for each definition.
An overflowing of water onto land that is normally dry. *
Precipitation containing harmful amounts of nitric and sulfuric acids released into the atmosphere when fossil fuels are burned. *
The process by which material from the earth's surface is worn away by forces such as glaciers, wind, and waves. *
A rotating column of air ranging in width from a few yards to more than a mile and whirling at destructively high speeds, usually accompanied by a funnel-shaped downward extension of a cumulonimbus cloud. *
A severe tropical cyclone having winds greater than 64 knots (119 kilometers per hour), originating in the equatorial regions of the Atlantic Ocean or Caribbean Sea or eastern regions of the Pacific Ocean, travelling north, northwest, or northeast from its point of origin, and usually involving heavy rains. *
Any of the atmospheric gases that contribute to the greenhouse effect by absorbing infrared radiation produced by solar warming of the Earth's surface. They include carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (NO2), and water vapor. Although greenhouse gases occur naturally in the atmosphere, the elevated levels especially of carbon dioxide and methane that have been observed in recent decades are directly related, at least in part, to human activities such as the burning of fossil fuels and the deforestation of tropical forests. *
The cutting down and removal of all or most of the trees in a forested area. It can erode soils, contribute to desertification and the pollution of waterways, and decrease biodiversity through the destruction of habitat. *
Gases or steam ejected from the engine of a vehicle when it is running as waste products. *
A region of the upper atmosphere, between about 15 and 30 kilometers in altitude, containing a relatively high concentration of ozone that absorbs solar ultraviolet radiation in a wavelength range not screened by other atmospheric components. *
A long period of abnormally low rainfall, especially one that adversely affects growing or living conditions. *
