Hello All,
We are again looking for coaches to lead the Vortex teams as they travel to Waterloo, ON at the 2014 Canadian Ultimate Championships.
The dates for this year's tournament are August 11-13th, 2014.
*Please note the Junior division runs Monday to Wednesday, while the rest of the divisions run during their regular Thursday to Sunday. There will be no conflict for coaches wanting to do both.
The teams are single gender, although only one coach/chaperone must be the same gender as the team. As these student athletes are all 18 years old or younger, the minimum age requirement for the coaches/chaperones is 21.
These are part-time positions that will need at least 7 - 10 hours per week coaching and developing strategies for the summer program. The summer program is usually two evenings plus one morning of a weekend per week (e.g. Monday and Wednesday from 6 pm to 8 pm and Saturday either 10-1pm or 1-4pm.) You will also be required to chaperone/coach these student athletes during tournaments.
BCU will provide some of the equipment (cones, discs and a first aid kit). You can also be reimbursed for the purchase of some other materials (with prior BCU approval) that will assist you throughout the summer.
The following would be assets, though not mandatory: - experience with teaching children - experience coaching children - lifeguard / play leader in community programs - strong ultimate skills - first aid certifications - USAU coaching certifications - NCCP coaching certifications - a strong interest in developing the game of Ultimate - a strong interest in teaching
Expenses are covered and a small stipend will be provided.
Successful applicants will require a copy of the BCU Coaching and Chaperone Code of Conduct form.
Deadline for applications is May 22nd, 2014
Tryout dates are May 27, 29 (both from 6:30-8:30) & 31 (10:00-12:00) at Fraser Wood Elem.
Thank you for your ongoing support of Juniors Ultimate in BC!
