Way to go! Congratulations on (nearly) officially signing up for the Rock and Roll Half Marathon with Dollars for Change. We are excited you are both committed to physical achievement and philanthropy; you should feel very good about yourself hitherto (but of course we know you are modest as well). So what better way to celebrate all these wonderful qualities?

As of now, I hope you have taken the time to look through the website a bit to see who Dollars for Change is. Dollars for change is a 501©3 not-for-profit organization, to which all donations are tax-deductable. This event is a major fundraising event and you will be a major contributor and participant in our effort.

The half marathon costs the organization $165.00/person, but we are asking only a $65.00 donation from the participant in place of their entrance fee. We anticipate, given the nature of this event, that each participant raise, at least, the remaining fee ($100.00) in support. But of course we believe in our circles everyone is very capable of going well beyond that amount. It goes without saying that we anticipate breaking even…by quite a bit (hopefully).

Now what exactly are you raising money for? Dollars for Change is dedicated to collectively supporting and implementing projects specific to the needs of impoverished communities throughout the Crags region of South Africa (that’s the mission statement). We really believe everyone can, and has the ability to make a difference, one dollar, or in this case, one race at a time. More specific details about how exactly this is done is available on the website.

Once you register you will be emailed a training guide, compliments of “Runner’s World,” and your own fund raising website (crowdrise.com). Instructions for the fundraising website will be included in the email. So register, and start getting excited to run for Team DFC as a modest, philanthropic, half-marathoner (you aren’t required to be modest by the way)!
