2012 Program Information Form - Boulder International Fringe Festival
Deadline: June 1, 2012 - NO EXCEPTIONS! We must be able to meet our printing deadlines so that everyone has the same opportunity to market their shows.

As the festival nears we will be distributing the printed Fringe program all over town. Since the program is the Fringe audience's primary source of information about the festival and your show, it is very important that you provide us with complete and accurate information about your show using this form. Please be honest about warnings for nudity, violence, etc. None of us want angry patrons at your show. A good rule of thumb: If your show couldn't be broadcast on any major network except HBO, you might need to check a warning box or two.

Please keep your short description to 30 words or less. We will edit if you go over 30 words. You will have the opportunity to submit a longer description for the website on this form, as well. Check to make sure all genres/attributes that are applicable to your show are marked. Mark only the categories that are directly applicable to your show. For example, if your show has no gay characters and you mention "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" in a punch line, the show does not count as "queer content."

INSTRUCTIONS:

STEP 1 - Fill in all appropriate fields.

STEP 2 - Look at an example of last year's online program to get an idea of how the Program Info will appear on the website by following this link http://www.boulderfringe.com/category/programs/2011/. If you can find an old printed program it will show where all of the fields are used. For tips on how to write a snappy show description and what makes up a good show photo, please follow this link http://www.boulderfringe.com/marketing-resources/#3 .

STEP 3 - Type VERY CAREFULLY and PROOF your work. What you write here goes in the program AS IS, so make sure it is correct (capital letters, punctuation, spelling etc.). If you fail to fill out any important information here, it may be left out of the program!

STEP 4 - Submit this form (all fields must be filled in) by JUNE 1st at the latest.

STEP 5 - Email your Show Image to info@boulderfringe.com (see instructions below)

BOX OFFICE INFO
READ ALL BOX OFFICE INFO AND FILL IN ALL REQUESTED INFORMATION.

---Box Office Policies:

100% of Fringe box office ticket sales go to the individual companies (minus processing fees for advance ticket sales.)

---Ticket prices
Artists set their own ticket prices between $0-15 in whole dollar amounts. In addition to the ticket price, there will be fees for advanced sale tickets.

---Special Passes:
As a means of putting more butts in the seats, we will be offering a variety of discount passes in 2011. These will include Frequent Fringer Passes, All Festival Pass, and other specials, All artists are required to accept these passes to their shows and receive the value of the pass (minus a small processing fee).

---Donations to the Fringe Festival:
The Fringe reserves the right to collect donations at all Fringe venues and special events.

----When setting ticket prices, consider your budget and how many people you can draw in. FYI: For each ticket sold online, over the phone or at the Fringe live box office in advance of the show there will be a minimal service fee charged per ticket. This fee is variable depending on the type of transaction. Credit card fees may be different from cash sales.
Please choose a GENERAL ADMISSION ticket price for your show.   *
Please choose a STUDENT/SENIOR ADMISSION ticket price for your show.   *
Do you want to offer a 2-for-1 discount for any of your performances? *
Be sure to specify which dates you want the discount to be valid, otherwise it will be made available for all of your shows.  ------ Many artists find it beneficial to offer a 2-for-1 discount for their opening show to encourage a full first show and subsequent word-of-mouth buzz.  ------ We apologize, but due to limitations within the ticketing system, 2-for-1 is the only kind of special ticket deal that can be offered. Requests to offer this  discount after June 1st may not be accommodated.
ARTIST PASS INFO
This year, each Fringe artist group will be given between 1-4 Artist Passes, depending on the size of the group, which will allow free entry into other Fringe shows, based on unsold seat availability. These passes are to be shared among members of each artist group. Every Fringe artist agrees to accept these passes at their shows. To get into a show with an Artist Pass, each person will be required to show ID that matches a name listed on the Artist Pass.  -----NOTE: Offering these passes is a courtesy the Fringe extends in order to encourage Fringe artists to see each other's work and to have the fullest Fringe experience possible. This is a great perk for all of the artists in the festival. If you or a member of your group is found to be abusing the Artist Pass privilege, your group's passes may be revoked. Additional passes or replacement of lost passes may be available for a fee.
Please list the full names of all cast and crew to be listed on your group's Artist Pass/es. *
All members listed will be required to check in with the Fringe and sign a liability waiver in order for any of your group's passes to be released. Any changes to this list after submitting this form will incur a Change of Information Fee of $30 before June 1st and $75 before June 15th. Changes requested after June 15th will be addressed on a case by case basis and will incur a fee.
 SHOW IMAGE
After you send this form, you will also need to email us your show photo A.S.A.P. to info@boulderfringe.com

Your show image is also due JUNE 1st.
Here are the very important guidelines for your show image:
---- You must email your images to info@boulderfringe.com. It is extremely important that electronic images provided to us digitally be high-resolution files (300 dpi) and in JPG, Bitmap, EPS (with preview) or TIFF format. The original image must be, at the very least, 4" x 4" for greatest flexibility of use.

---- Your image will appear in color on the web and black and white in the printed program. Please send us your image in color and we will convert it to black and white as needed.

---- The image you submit for use in the program and on the Web site may be cropped, resized and/or optimized for use on the Web. While every effort will be made to maintain the integrity of the photograph's composition, changes may be necessary. Follow our suggestions above in order to assure a happy outcome.

---- Fringe will accept photos and drawings for your publicity graphics - but we strongly recommend photos.

---- When taking your publicity photo, keep in mind that it will not be large when it's used in print or on the Web. The program has very limited space and the average size of show photos about one inch square.

---- That means there is absolutely no room for detail. Avoid background action and shadows. Avoid dead space between people - people should never be more than about 12 inches from each other when you're taking the photo. Keep the photo more or less square; avoid photos that are very horizontal (several people standing in a line) or very vertical (a full-length body shot). Focus on capturing only one or two highly expressive faces. (You get extra points for sharp contrast.)

---- You may submit an illustration instead of a photo, though this is discouraged. Keep in mind that it is very, very, very unlikely any of the local newspapers or magazines will print your illustration if they can pick from dozens of photos from other Fringe Artists. If you use an illustration, make sure it looks okay in color and grayscale and that lines are distinct (high contrast).

---- Be advised that for most applications, we will be cropping your image to fit into a square shape. Please avoid any image that is too long or too wide.

---- NOTE: Fringe will accept graphics that have text in them, but the text will probably not show up in the program or on the Web site. White text on a black background will only read as an opaque patch of ink. Avoid putting text in your graphics at all costs because not only will it not show up but also, from a marketing standpoint, a twelve day festival is simply not long enough for people to recognize a special logo as your "brand." Our Recommendation: Put your energy, time and money into developing a good photo instead.
Fringe Encore! 2012
What: Fringe Encore! 2012 On the last day of the festival, each standard venue will have a special encore performance by the company who sold the most tickets in their venue. (The event does not include BYOVs)

---The Fringe Encore! 2012 is a way to honor the artists that had the best audience response and to give their fans one last chance to see who the patrons couldn't get enough of. The Fringe Encore! awards are very prestigious awards that artists will continue to use in press kits and media for years to come. Fringe Encore! 2012 performers will be announced at the BIG TIME Daily on Saturday, August 25th. The only tickets that count towards the tally are tickets that are purchased. Comp tickets do not count towards your final tickets sales tally.
