Hi, folks!

Like 'em or lump 'em, the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are on their way to over 40 states and territories. Whether you're in a CCSS-adopting state or not, the national educational conversation is flooded with talk about informational text, text complexity, arguments supported by evidence, and the "fourth R" -- research!

This year, Nudging Toward Inquiry is looking for strategies that can help those of you in states that have adopted the Common Core State Standards get ready (and those who aren't to diversify their skills).

We have eight topics this year:
1. Informational Text -- SUBMISSIONS CLOSED
2. Research Strategies for primary (K-2) learners -- SUBMISSIONS CLOSED
3. Research Strategies for upper elementary (3-5) learners -- SUBMISSIONS CLOSED
4. Research Strategies for middle school (6-8) learners -- SUBMISSIONS CLOSED
5. Research Strategies for high school (9-12) learners -- SUBMISSIONS CLOSED
6. Grappling with Complex Texts (see ELA Standards, Appendix A)
7. Building Arguments and Supporting with Evidence (all grades)
8. Librarians and Professional Development (Primarily Related to Common Core)

While this year's column will have a slightly different feel (we'll still have a list of tips, but no scenario) we are eager to hear what's on your mind. Start by selecting a topic, then give us your strategy, then let us know your job affiiliation and your contact information.
