How does this trip fit into your church’s vision, or the church with whom you are serving with? *
We will be going as part of the 151st Street Church of Christ in Olathe, KS.  This is an annual mission for the Olathe congregation.  My mother went with them 2 years ago and this year we will both be going.  "The Mission of the 151st Street body of Christ is to convert souls to Christ and to equip them for faithful, biblical service to the glory of God." They do this through missionary support in Bauru and Curitiba, Brazil, Ghana West Africa Missions and Heritage Christian College in Ghana, West Africa and in Crowley, Louisiana.  The Church of Christ in where I attend is also very involved in missions.  We support missions in Germany, Russia and the Philippines.  Our congregation's slogan is:  Where Friends Become Family!  We want to take that feeling of Christian fellowship wherever we spread God's word.  Whether it is in local community of xxx or a Christian School in Honduras.
What will your responsibilities be on this trip and what have you done to prepare for this role?: *
I will be helping with any construction or physical labor projects in the area. I will be leading songs, performing skits, leading devotionals, and just working with the younger children in general. I have taken two years of high school Spanish so hopefully that will help when it comes to communication. I have worked in my church’s local vacation bible school, so I have experience leading younger children. I have led many devotionals in my high school club Alpha and Omega which meets and has a quick devotional before school. I am an Eagle Scout so I have experience in leading a project situation.
Who will you be serving and/or directly working with? *
We will be working with the The Trujillo Christian School in Trujillo, Honduras.  The school held its first class in February 1992 with some 40  children. The primary goals of the school are to train the students of Christian families to be leaders in the church of tomorrow and to bring the good  news of Jesus to all of the students as they grow in their spiritual education. Over the past several years, the school has grown steadily to teach kindergarten through ninth grade and currently enrolls approximately 320 students. We also may do some construction etc. projects for the 4 churches that service the city of Trujillo.  Trujillo is a city and a municipality on the northern Caribbean coast of the Honduran department of Colón, of which the city is the capital. The municipality has a population of about 30,000.  The people of Honduras are among the poorest in Latin America; Gross national income per capita (2007) is $US 1,649; the average for Central America is $US 6,736.[1] Honduras is the third poorest country in the Western Hemisphere; only Haiti and Nicaragua are poorer.  Agriculture is the main source of income.
What do you expect to gain from this trip?: *
I will get to see my first glimpse of non-USA land. I have never been out of the country before and I am excited to go outside the borders! I will also get the chance to practice my Spanish outside of the classroom.  Most importantly though, I will get to really experience evangelism outside of my comfort zone. I will be able to see how foreign believers go about worship. I have always been good with kids and the chance to really teach them about the Word will be a great experience for me.
How your involvement with LTC will help you in the mission field?: *
My experience in speaking in front of groups, leading songs performing in puppets, drama and chorus has been so helpful. Overall just studying the Bible for Bible quiz will help in the understanding of what I’m saying and in the many ways I will be working in the mission works.  I have been a part of LTC since 3rd grade and have used many of the skills I've practiced during preparation for the convention each year. I can't wait to use them in Honduras.
