OEOnline.org Staff Application 2012-2013
Who We Are

The student journalism staff produces content for OEOnline.org and the Legend student yearbook. Each journalist is responsible for stories appearing regularly online, as well as longer packages that appear in the fall delivery yearbook.

Our Staff

We are looking for students interested in writing, photography, video, design and sales. You must have a strong work ethic, be able to work in a team, exhibit leadership skills, and make ethical content choices. Journalists may specialize in a specialty area (ex. writing, video, design) but will be required to contribute to the publication as a whole. Sophomores and juniors are invited to apply.

Commitment & Responsibility

This course is different than others you may take in high school. The work you do is seen by a large audience, including your fellow classmates. This is why you will be held to high standards. Extra work after school is often required and expected in order to meet deadlines. If you cannot meet these obligations, this is not the class for you. One of the perks of being on staff is gaining access to a wide range of professional journalism and broadcast equipment. Students will have opportunities to check out this equipment to complete assignments. However, they will be fully responsible for any damage that may occur as a result of negligence.

Selection

Admission to the course will be determined by a selection committee made up of current Ovid-Elsie Area Schools staff, the editors-in-chief of the publications and industry professionals. An interview and/or sample work may be requested. Letters will be delivered notifying applicants of their status in mid-April.
