Kogod Graduate Merit Awards
Kogod rewards outstanding academic performance and involvement with a variety of merit awards. Both full and part time graduate students are eligible to apply for graduate merit awards. Award amounts vary and are not renewable. All merit award decisions for continuing students are made in the spring semester and awarded the following academic year.

Please complete the following form and include personal statements for each award you wish to be considered for. Personal statements should provide details to support your application. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Edward Lehman Award
The Office of Academic Programs awards the Edward Lehman Award to the full-time MBA student with the highest GPA as of the spring semester. The award amount is $500. Please enter your current cumulative GPA below.
Robert E. Wilson Memorial Fellowship
The Robert E. Wilson Memorial Fellowship is awarded to outstanding MBA students who have achieved academic success and who have also contributed significantly to the Kogod and university communities. Students apply for the scholarship by submitting a personal statement about their involvement and contribution to the Kogod and AU communities. The award amount is $1,000.  
James Edward Miller Chapman Scholarship
The James Edward Miller Chapman Scholarship is awarded to DC residents with financial need.  To be an eligible candidate, a student must have registered financial need with American University’s Office of Financial Aid who will be consulted with the administration of this award.  Students apply for the scholarship by submitting a personal statement about their involvement and contribution to the Kogod and AU communities. The award amount is $1,000.  
The Seidel Scholarship
The Seidel Scholarship is awarded to a student who possesses strong leadership abilities and makes a significant contribution to the Kogod community.  Students apply for the scholarship by submitting a personal statement about their involvement and contribution to the Kogod community.  The scholarship amount is $1,000.
William R. Adrain Scholarship
The William R. Adrain Scholarship recognizes students who have demonstrated academic success while contributing significantly to the Kogod and university communities.  To be an eligible candidate, a student must have a documented disability and be registered with either Disability Support Services (DSS) or the Academic Support Center (ASC).  Students with a disability may register with the appropriate office if they have not yet done so.   Registration will be verified by the ASC or DSS; disability-specific information will not be shared during the application process.  The award amount is $3,000.
