They changed the oil & checked the screen and said it had more metal fragments than expected which appeared to be brass indicating bearing failure. They refused to pull the stator cover off as I suggested and explained that was the likely source, instead quoting me $5,000 to drop the motor, crack it open and inspect internals to determine issue, then reassemble... Doesn't include whatever expense will be needed to actually repair the problem.
