| Introduction | "Hey guys. My name's Omar and today you guys are going to be learning about auto mechanics - what it is, why it's important to know, essential things to know and the some of the common problems cars can give you as well as how to over come them and I'll tie all of this into my first answer of my essential question."
| Verification (Steps to check for student understanding) | Beginning of Presentation: What do you guys think when you hear the words 'automotive mechanics'? Does anybody know the difference between a 2 stroke engine and 4 stroke engine? End of Presentation: Who can tell me what a radiator is and one of the most important things to remember about it? Who can tell me what the proper way to remove a battery is?
| Body (Give and/or demonstrate necessary information) | Literal: I will be talking about general maintenance of a car, how to properly remove a battery, the different types of engines, and the different parts of an engine. Interpretive: I will be talking about important safety tips and facts to remember when working around the engine of car. Applied: This topic may help me and the students in the future if they decide that they want to do work on their first car by themselves, if they decide they want to become a mechanic or if their car breaks down, they'll know what to do. The end goal of this presentation is to teach the students about the basics of auto mechanics and safety facts.
| Visual | I will have a power point that includes pictures and videos about my topic.
| Activity (Describe the independent activity to reinforce this lesson) | My independent activity will be a little trivia game in which the students will be asked questions about what I've talked to them about and the student that gets it right will get a candy. The questions will vary between how something works, safety tips and general maintenance.
| Three Important sources | 1) TheCarBible.com was one of my most important sources because it was written by an actual mechanic and it was the site that taught me how everything in an engine works. 2) Auto Repair for Dummies was another one of my important sources because it taught me about the essential parts of a car and almost all I needed to know to start working on my own car. 3) My mentorship because it gave me a chance to apply what I learned from books and websites and put it to the test.
| Conclusion | I will end my last sentence and show a quote that relates to auto mechanics and thank the students for listening to my presentation. |
