10/27/20134 hoursI spent a portion of my day plotting out the main focus of my Independent Component. My main objectives were to the main elements of Personal Finance mentioned within my graphic novel, and to make a story behind it. I have made good progress on both of these, and have also been captivated by the sheer...element of my characters. More to come.4 hours

1/16/20142 hoursToday, I have compiled a rough sketch of my comic book, and gotten familiar with the software I'm going to be using. The first hour was simply trial and error and working with different techniques. The second hour was deleting what I had done the first hour and starting from scratch. I like the second version of the comic book enormously better than my first attempt. Practice, practice, practice.6 hours

1/18/20141 hourToday, I have completed the introduction and beginning pages of my graphic comic. I have also organized it into sections on different topics of Personal Finance (the most loved educational topic) and come up with the entire summary of the component. I have decided to give each sub-topic within Personal Finance a different story, and behind together every story behind common events. My pursuit continues.7 hours

1/20/20142 hoursI have taken this time to research Personal Finance, because I have realized that the majority of my endeavors towards this comic book will not truly pay off to its intended audience unless it accurately captures real world conditions. It has to simplify without oversimplifying. That in itself, is a challenge.9 hours
6
1/21/20142 hoursI have completed the first section of my comic book! Sadly, this is only one part of 8, and this component has been much more than I have previously anticipated. Who knew such work and dedication can go into making such a perceivably simple product? It's time to call in my team for assistance.11 hours
7
1/23/20143 hoursI have worked with several people within my makeshift team - Lionel, Alfonso, and Facundo, to name a few, and we have begun drafting the proceeding pages. Unfortunately, a majority of this team was spent dealing with teaching them how to effectively implement their time. Managing a team is an interesting experience.14 hours.

1/25/20142 hoursToday, I worked with Lionel, my favorite co-worker. Together, we created about half a page. The rate of creation was especially slow today, because I was teaching him to operate Illustrator. Fortunately, he's a fast learner.16 hours.

1/27/20141.5 hoursToday, I worked a little bit on my component. It's coming out great! I just wish I had more time to add detail!17.5 hours

1/29/20141 hourI have spent an hour working on a system to speed up the overall process of creating a graphic comic. I hand (err...computer) drew every letter and every punctuation mark of the quotation of characters, and I have now developed a system so that I can copy and paste common sentence fragments instead of drawing the same things over and over.18.5 hours.
11
1/31/20145 hoursI spent the majority of the day constructing the pages, with a few breaks in between, totaling 5 hours and 5 minutes exact. I have received a new mouse, so the process has become a little bit faster, and the system has shaved off some time off of my total project. Working with a team for something as specific as designing a "simple" graphic comic has proven to be rather challenging, so for now, I have taken the iniative to construct the pages individually.23.5 hours

2/1/20142 hoursI have spoken to my mentor today about my project, and he has suggested for me to reserve a greater length of time to the project in order to ensure its completion. He has complimented on its look so far, and has told me that he looks forward to seeing the end product. I worked on my project inside of his office while he answered any questions I had about the subject I was teaching. He has done a great job supporting me.25.5 hours

2/2/20144.5 hoursToday is Sunday - time for work! I knocked out a sizable portion of my graphic comic - a whole 2 pages! In crafting something from scratch, that's pretty impressive. My system for making it progress faster is improving, but I am still somewhat disheartened that I will not even be close to finishing what I have aimed for. I estimate the total hours needed to complete my project at around 150.29.5 hours
14
2/3/20142 hoursI have received a godsend - "Investing Made Simple: Investing in Index Funds Explained in 100 Pages or Less" by Mike Piper, CPA. This is outright the most accurate and simple book I have ever encountered on personal finance, and many of its topics I plan to cover within my graphic comic. I have spent these two hours reading the book from cover to cover, and taking notes. Awesome!31.5 hours
