5/11/2014 16:05:54Ron (shuckins)15595Great looking cigar, with a smooth blemish free wrapper.92.5I love the light leather, coffee, and sweet cedar smell of the cigar before lighting it.90MediumMediumSweet cedar, with a light peppery nutmeg flavor on light up. Soon after though,a rich coffee taste, with splashes of leather show up,bringing a trace of creaminess with it.90MediumMediumA smooth creamy smoke kept on the sweet side by the taste of cedar. The rich taste from the coffee and leather is helped along by a peppery nutmeg flavor, that has a gentle kick to it.90MediumMediumThe coffee moves to the front, bringing the leather with it the nearer to the end it gets. The creaminess fades as more pepper joins the nutmeg, chasing the sweetness out of the cedar, while providing a nice kick at the very end.95The draw was great, providing plenty of cool, tasty smoke for me to enjoy.90A little wavy at times, but overall a pretty decent burn, leaving a nice fluffy ash behind.92.5Tightly rolled, very firm, with a pointed head that could put an eye out.90An enjoyable cigar with nice flavors that I would recommend as an after dinner cigar.80

5/16/2014 11:25:05Dave (mdwest)15587.5A decent looking belicoso that is medium brown in color and has a few prominent veins present. It has minimal tooth, a nice triple cap, and a very slight sheen on the wrapper. 87.5The scent of wood and hay are mostly present on the foot pre-light. 90MediumMediumMedium in both strength and complexity, there is a slight taste of cinnamon present on the front of each puff that is followed by wood, hay, and a little bit of almost a graham cracker type sweetness on the finish. 90MediumMediumToward the end of the first third there was a little bit of black pepper present in the profile, but that has mostly faded at this point. Other than that, the flavor stays the same in the second third. The smoke is just a little bit on the harsh side, but not so much that it hinders the stick. It is barely notifiable. 90MediumMediumNo changes in flavor at all since the pepper faded away in the second third. I'm still getting overarching wood and hay notes with a touch of sweetness on the finish. 82.5After making the first cut on the cap, the pre-light draw was extremely tight. Thinking I just needed to clip a bit deeper to get the belicoso to open up, I made a second cut, taking the head down to the edge of the second cap. This didnt help at all, and the cigar maintained a dray that was tight to the point of almost making me put it down. I decided to go on and fire it up anyway. Fortunately whatever was plugging it got smoked through and the stick opened up to the point of being only slightly tight after about the mid way point. 87.5While the burn couldnt be defined as razor sharp, it never got out of control, and always self corrected before any touch ups or maintenance was required. 87.5If it weren't for the plug experienced in the first half of the stick, I would have considered construction to have been excellent. The plug however brings the rating down to a "good", and I considered even dropping it to "fair" for a moment as it made the cigar very hard to enjoy for the first half of the experience. 87.5Not really my thing in terms of flavor profile, although it might appeal well to others looking for a cigar with heavy notes of wood and hay that bring a little bit of sweetness to the finish. I wish the stick wouldnt have had the issue with the draw being so tight and I might have had a better overall experience with it. 80

5/18/2014 18:43:01Milton (mjohnsoniii)15597.5This cigar was virtually flawless. The color of the wrapper was uniform throughout and was laid perfectly. The only flaw I found was a loose spot near the cap of this torpedo which is about to be snipped. 92.5Right off the bat, I got hints of cinnamon and hay and a very faint chocolaty scent. 87.5MediumLight-MediumAfter toasting the foot and taking a few draws, I didn't taste a lot. I got very (and I do mean VERY) slight buttery hints with leather and notes of walnuts. If these flavors had been just a bit more prominent, this third could have been very good. 87.5MediumLight-MediumThe flavors of the second third were more or less the same as the first third. Faint. There was some nuttiness and spice but also encompassed a slight harshness that stuck to the palate. It wasn't terrible but didn't quite have me in cigar bliss either. 90MediumMediumThe flavors opened up a bit towards the end of the cigar. The sweetness of toffee and raisins started showing through along with a bit chocolate and spice. There was still a slight harshness that lingered as well but didn't overwhelm the flavors this third produced. 87.5For the majority of this cigar, the draw was slightly tighter than I would've liked even after clipping off extra as I smoked beyond the first third. 85The burn constantly veered off course but evened itself out but would begin burning unevenly all over again. The good part is that it didn't require any relights. 95This cigar was built very well. It was firm but not hard. The wrapper was applied almost perfectly and the tobacco appeared to be gathered and rolled with care. 87.5I expected a lot more from this one just by the way it looked and was constructed. Although there were moments that were very enjoyable, the blandness of the first and second thirds was enough to overshadow the good points of this cigar. I'd definitely like to try another since I don't judge a brand on a single cigar but I won't scour the earth looking for one either. 91

5/20/2014 20:47:54Robert (NavyPiper)15592.5This sample is a beautiful looking stogie. It's a torpedo, measuring 6 x 52. Wrapper is medium dark brown, is uniform in color, and has a very nice sheen. A few minor veins on the wrapper. Seams are tight & well blended. Cigar is perfectly round in shape. The head has a fairly short taper ending at a pointed head.90Aroma is very earthy with a little leather.90Medium-StrongMedium-FullA nice start to this review, with flavors of medium strong tobacco, leather, and wood. A bit of pepper gives a little 'zing' on the retrohale. Looking forward to seeing what this stogie has in store for me...90Medium-StrongMedium-Full2nd third is a continuation of the first, however the flavors have mellowed a skosh, and the peppery 'zing' has faded out. Miss the pepper, but still enjoying it just the same.87.5Medium-StrongMedium-FullThe final third was pretty much identical to the second third. Actually started to get a little bored with the flavors, but was still pretty good. Wish the pepper would've returned but it was not to be. This has been a very consistent cigar flavor wise from start to stop.95Draw was great the whole time until midway in the final third where it started to tighten up.87.5Burn was pretty good only requiring 1 touch up. Great smoke output the whole time.90Very good construction. Wrapper has great seams, with a few minor veins. Nice tapered head. Perfect shape & symmetry. Feels quite heavy as well.90Overall, I did enjoy the review, although the lack of changes in flavor began to get a tad boring for me. Very very consistent with little in the way of surprises.98

6/2/2014 19:45:33Aaron (aaron72)15590Medium brown wrapper with some thick veins. The seams are visible along with some water spots.90A faint leather aroma from the wrapper and a nice sweet tobacco aroma from the foot.90MediumMediumJust a slight raisin flavor on the pre-light draw. On the first couple of puffs, I got a nice strong peppery woodiness. After that, the pepper eased off a bit, but was still there with a an oak flavor. About an inch in, the pepper has completely gone away, but the smoky oak remains. On the retrohale, just a hint of a floral aroma is there.90MediumMediumA slight amount of pepper has made its way back in here along with the continued oak flavor. The retrohale definitely enhances the flavors. Towards the middle of the third, the smoke is becoming a bit creamy which is a nice transition. The retrohale has moved to more of a mineral flavor.87.5Medium-StrongMediumThis third is bringing creamy cedar which also comes through on the retrohale. The cigar has gone out on me couple of times in this third. With about an inch or so it started to really heat up and it was time to put it down.90The draw was a little tighter than I prefer but didn't cause any issues.87.5The cigar went out a couple of times, but other than that, the burn line was straight.90The cigar was firm throughout and seemed well constructed.90The initial pepper was nice, but faded away too quickly. The oak flavor was nice and the transition to some creaminess was enjoyable. The retrohale transitions were nice as well. This is something I could see smoking again, but not something I would chase after.150
