| 30-Jun | 2 | It was an early dinner with our family friend. We sat down to discuss what I would be doing for my senior year t down to discuss what I would be doing and talked to him more about what I had hoped to gain from this experience. Right away he explained to me that he wanted to run for city council for the city of Monterey Park. He asked me to find the required paperwork that was needed in order to participate in the election. I found the required documents immediately (510 & 410 forms) he asked me to read them through and get back to him what was needed for him to become a candidate. He invited me to come and observe and or help during his commission meetings held every first Monday of the month. | 2 hours
| 2-Jul | 2 | I was asked to come early to help set up for the meeting, I basically helped set up the places where each member sat at with a water and a version of the agenda that was going to be discussed during the meeting. Once the meeting was about to begin I began handing out flyers for the meeting involving the agenda and certain events that were to be held during that month. | 4 hours
| 20-Jul | 4 | Met up with my mentor and strolled through the city’s farmers market and talked to the local people. Some people seemed eager to get to know him while others just passed on by with their daily routine. My mentor told me that when running for elected office it is always nice to get to know those who are around you. Those people are the ones that count the most. To just be casual because then you the person running for elected office seems more approachable and easier to talk to. | 8 hours
| 6-Aug | 2 | I came in early to help set up for the meeting, I basically helped set up the places where each member sat at with a water and a version of the agenda that was going to be discussed during the meeting. Once the meeting was about to begin I began handing out flyers for the meeting involving the agenda and certain events that were to be held during that month. | 10 hours
| 13-Aug | 2 | My mentor and I sat down to talk about a plan of action and the route he would most likely take in order for him to run for public office. We came to an agreement and talked about me staying aboard and helping him throughout the year. | 12 hours

| 16-Oct | 3 | I came in for my first time today, I met Max and he was stunned to see me there. He told me that he was rather skeptical of me showing up to working with him on the campaign. He showed me around the little office, from the big maps (which I later came to know as the precinct maps) and introduced me to all of the other volunteers that were in there at the time. My first task of the day was to go through manila file folders and take out its content and toss them into the trash. Lucky for me there were already 10 boxes full, which took up most of my time. | 15 hours
| 17-Oct | 4 | I came back to work and it was rather empty and Max needed some help making some calls, he asked me if I was good talking to other people and I gave him my iPoly speech. About how we are trained for real world situations. He laughed and asked if I could make a few calls for him. He had me do a few in front of him so I could show my talent. It went better than I had expected. He didn't really ask after if I was able to call voters. | 19 hours
| 18-Oct | 4 | I came in and half of my time was spent on making phone calls and the other half I went out with Max to go drop off some lawn signs throughout the area. | 23 Hours
| 20-Oct | 6 | It's a Saturday, more time in the office. Max already had me test out phone calling and lawn sign delivery, he now wanted to see how well I did talking to voters in person. I tagged along with Mary, a worker there and she showed me what there possibly was to know about walking around the neighborhoods. | 29 hours
| 21-Oct | 5 | I went in today, I went right to spliting my time dealing with the manila folders again, calling people, preparing bags for those who went out to walk the neighborhoods, and lawn sign delivery. | 34 hours
| 22-Oct | 3 | Did mostly calling, I got to take care of the spanish speaking voters this time. At first I had been getting people who would hang up or would say no but not anymore. People are listening and saying yes for a change. | 37 hours
| 23-Oct | 3 | Took care of the folders again and worked on making walker bags | 40 hours
| 24-Oct | 3 | Learned how to scan the results from those who went out to walk and came back with a bunch of circled data sheets. Took a while since Max was back logged. | 43 hours
| 25-Oct | 4 | Scanned for the most part and made calls | 47 hours
| 27-Oct | 6 | Went out and delivered lawn signs and walked a few streets talking to voters. | 53 hours
| 28-Oct | 5 | Went out working the precincts, I typically alternate between Max, Mary, Mario, or Anthony. My co-workers take great pride in thinking that they are the ones who are showing me the ropes of working on a campaign. I learn from each and every one of them which feels like I have quite a few mentors going on at once which is pretty cool. | 58 hours
| 29-Oct | 3 | Scanned for the most part and made calls | 61 hours
| 30-Oct | 4 | Dealt with the manila folders and made spanish phone calls | 65 hours
| 1-Nov | 4 | We got some mediocre door hangers that we have to start making. They are literally 8 1/2 x 11 sheets 2x sided hole punched on the right corner with a rubber band. This is some cheap way of making them. But okay, there's not much I can do about that. | 69 hours
| 3-Nov | 6 | We started working on making some door hangers that gave the voter the location as to where they are suppose to go out to vote. Its teadious work, but if it helps get out the vote then it must be done. | 75 hours
| 4-Nov | 5 | Still worked on these hangers, we have created an assembly line along with a distribution line, workers are coming in and taking the sets that are complete and others are helping get the sets together. | 80 hours
| 5-Nov | 5 | Election Day is approaching, we are getting last minute stuff taken care of. We are still spreading out those door hangers throughout all of La Puente, Hacienda Heights, Whittier, and the surrounding areas. | 85 hours
| 6-Nov | 18 | Election Day, spent all day poll checking and making last minute calls to voters to go out to the polls and my day had just begun at 8 pm. There was still the democratic party that I was invited to attend, as a payoff for helping out the campaign. I got to talk to a few high posititoned people, which was cool! | 103 hours

| 8-Dec | 4 | Since the Nov. Elections, I had made quite the impression on those who worked on the campaign with me. Some had offered me to come out to work with them for their very own respective elections. Some, I will be honest were quite a distance from me so naturally I had to decline. The closest to me was one in Covina, Jorge Marquez asked for me to come along for the ride and now in Dec. I came to help him begin to get him name out to his community. | 107 hours
| 12-Jan | 8 | Made some calls, delievered signs, and walked around Covina talking to voters. | 115
| 13-Jan | 6 | Walked for the better half of my time today and inputted the rest of everyone's tallies into PoliticalData. | 121
| 14-Jan | 4 | Made lawn signs, we're almost out of the 1000 we initially ordered. | 124
| 15-Jan | 4 | Finished the last of the lawn signs and now they're being picked up, moving onto making a few calls. | 129
| 16-Jan | 4 | Talked to voters | 133
| 17-Jan | 3 | Talked to voters | 136

| 5-Mar | 7 | Election Day, got to make calls to voters reminding them about it being Election Day. I went poll checking and went to go see the results come in real time at a local restaurant with my co-workers and my boss Jorge Marquez. A quiter version of what I had seen on Nov. 6th. It was still a good experience none the less with familiar faces, like State Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez and a few other surrounding City Officials. | 215 |
