3 | 6/8/2014 10:47:53 | Forte Group | 1/8/2012 | 12/4/2012 | USA, Chicago IL | H1B | Frontend/Java Developer | Software Engineer | Initially 70K gross annual | H1B sponsorship, 100% compensation of plane tickets, transportation from airport, hotel and corporate car for up to 1 month. 50% coverage for healthcare insurance Car loan after arrival (no credit history required) Company offers free or discounted courses (QA/Java/Android) | Penalty for contract termination before 3 years (up to 12K) | 8 | Can recommend to go with this company. All the paperwork was done without any issues. Company fulfills all *documented* obligations. You can relocate with your spouse and children. | Insist on documenting all the terms and conditions (on paper, email etc). Don't relay on verbal promises because they never will be implemented, does not matter who gives you those promises. Don't take any commitments unless there is no way to avoid that. Don't be surprised if they forget to reply you or ignore you for a week, be insistent and communicate through all known channels if you feel you was abandoned. I believe it's not done with the purpose, but because HR/recruiting stuff is overloaded with responsibilities. If you choose to go with the company, you should be 100% confident in your skills beforehand. Technical screening is VERY simple so you can get through process even if you are not enough qualified or if your skill set is not demanded on market. It may cause you a lot of troubles and you may end in situation when you are in US, but you are not capable to pass any onsite technical interview. Limit your dependency on the company as much as you can. If company offers you some assistance or help, but you feel like you can do it yourself without assistance, DO IT YOURSELF. E.g. don't take corporate cell phone, if you can buy your own. Don't accept any legal assistance and so on. | |||||||
4 | 6/10/2014 0:59:59 | No mediator, all negotiations done by myself | 8/25/2012 | 11/11/2012 | Netherlands (Amsterdam) | Shengen type D for half year (for getting to the country), temporary (1y) Residence Permit in a couple of weeks after landing, temporary (5y) residence permit after first one expired | Starting yearly wage was about minimal limit for Kennismigranten program (38500 EUR). | Full compensation for flights during on-site interview and then for me and my wife when relocating; three weeks in serviced apartments (for house-finding period) paid by company; ~monthly gross salary in relocation money. | Penalty for termination earlier than 1 year, residence permit for me and family is tied to the company ("sponsored"). | 10 | Definitely recommend. | Don't be afraid of the process! Don't be afraid to negotiate when it comes to it; don't be afraid to ask questions. Before deciding to relocate, try to live at least a couple of weeks in your country of choice - and ask locals about how life is there.
