This fear or concern of a lack of "resources" for continued survival, the Buddha called clinging or attachment. He basically preempts this entire process by teaching to break away from it. Interestingly Yeshua (in Mat. 6:26-28) says that the birds don't plant or harvest food and the llilies don't worry for their clothes. "Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?" Both these two great wisdom teachers would seem suggest non-zero-thinking; to avoid the path to tribablism.
