--1 ANSWER KEYKIRCH6You can combine like terms when they are on the same side of the equals sign. You have to do the opposite operation when they are on opposite sides. For example, if you had 2 + 4 = 3x, you would just add the 2+4 because they are on the same side. If you have 2 + x = 4, you would have to do the opposite operation of 2 (which would be -2) to move it to the other side2(x+3) + 4x = 12. Distribute the 2 to get 2x+6+4x = 12. Combine like terms on the left to get 6x + 6 = 12. Do the opposite operation of -6 on both sides to be 6x = 6. Divide both sides by 6 to get x=1:):)x=8k=-7r=1scoreresubmit?

9/18/2012 8:36:22EstradaElijah1you do the opposite operations after you combined the like terms -24=-8x+4(x-7) first you draw the line then label the constants and variables after that you combine like terms then do the opposite operation last you divide to find the answerthe part i understood the most was distributing the numbersthe part i am still confused about is the dividing the numbers-8760must resubmit

9/12/2012 17:54:01sanchezeddie2distribute when you see parentheses.THEN you have to draw the fence to splite up the formula. after your down you need to place whhat the formula stands for like varible or constent. MUST RESBUMITYou get to distribute when you see only the parnethese in a formula, then add your varible with varible and constent with your consent. first you have to distribute to the parenthasess. then you may combine the like terms that are on the same side.the distributing once them combining.i think i understood this lesson verry well.-8490must resubmit

2/20/2013 19:23:27TuckerAlandra2After you divide the problem._24 = -8x = 4(x - 7) You have to distribute the 4 to the x and the seven, and then you have to draw a line and look for variables and constants and make sure everything is in its own place.I am still struggling with this concept and would like more help with understanding.I am still really confused and i think i need to discuss it with you.x = 1need helpneed help

4/13/2014 20:05:28EdwardGarrido 6The opposite operation comes after the combining like terms which is the second stepYou have to distribute the number to the ones in the parenthesis and then combine like terms nd then use the add or subtraction divide nd u get ur awnserI understood the combine like termsI didn't have any problems

4/14/2014 0:02:57CerdaElvis2you can do the inverse operation after you have distributed with the parenthesis and combine like terms 2(5n+4)=18. what you would have to do is distribute the 2 to the 5 and 4 inside the parenthesis and then divide 18n with the constant 18. your answer would be n=1.the part i understood was all the distribution parts and inverse operations. the part im still confused about is what do we do if we get a varible that has to be divided to a 0?x= -8k= -4r= 1
