8/7/20135 HoursAt the time I entered the daycare it was breakfast time. I was introduced to the teachers. After helping clean the tables where the students ate their breakfast, I was introduced to the students through a song called Wilabee Wolabbe Woo. We all sat in a circle and began to sing songs. Once we finished singing songs, Mrs. Karen announced what different activities each teacher was conducting. Mrs. Wendy was drawing stick bugs, Ms. Erin was making masks. I sat along with a few students at the coloring area, drawing with them and talking. Later came time to play outside, along with all the other teachers we monitored the students making sure they weren't fighting or climbing trees. Outside, I began to talk to many of the students, I met Giovanni, Sydney and Kate. Entering the building, then came lunch, students went off to wash their hands while I helped set up the table with other students making sure they all had forks, plates, napkins and cups. Once lunch was finished it was time for nap time. Students cleaned up their plates and utensils. Then they grabbed their buckets which contained their blankets. Every student would bring out their mat. I helped students set up their beds and then read them a book. Lights turned off and it was time to sleep, I with other teachers would rub the student's backs so that they would sleep.5 Hours

8/8/20136 Hours 30 MinutesToday, I with Mrs. Wendy, Mrs Karen and her daughter Natasha, opened up the daycare. Within the first 5 minutes our first student appeared, Ky. I set up train tracks with him and we played, then arrived Daniel and he played with us too. Once more students arrived I helped set up the table with Ky for breakfast. After sweeping the floor and cleaning the tables after breakfast, Ky walked up to me and asked me too read him a book. I read Dinosaur Rompus to him along with other students that gathered. We then sang songs and then they were off to the activities. While certain students did activities I again sat down in the coloring table watching students draw, some would ask me to help them draw. Kate drew me drawings and I met Vanya and Domenick; they were best friends. Students then rushed to play outside and I monitored again with the teachers. After came lunch. Then came nap time an I rubbed backs and read books.11 Hours 30 Minutes

8/9/20134 Hours 30 MinutesFriday consisted of the same routine but instead of having activities we all went outside and while students played, teachers cleaned the gazebo and the garden. I drew a hopscotch on the cement and taught students how to play. We went inside for lunch and then nap. I met Nathan and I helped him write a song which he sang to the teachers. I said goodbye to him and others entering kindergarten the following week.16 Hours

8/15/20136 HoursComing back there was new students, Lauren, Rhys, Gus, Thomas and others. I helped out by making new name tags on the students nap buckets, cubbies, and spare clothes buckets. 22 Hours

8/16/20136 Hours 15 MinutesOn my last day it was also Noah's and Zoey's they were moving onto kindergarten and like all the other students that leave for kindergarten we sang their favorite song during singing time. Noah's mom brought a stomp rocket for all the students to try. During lunch time Zoey's mom brought a cake for her to celebrate her last day and her birthday. While students napped teachers had a meeting on things that needed to be worked on, Sydney's new hearing aid speaker, how to work with Enrique's autism after his helpers leave after lunch, and how to talk to students, etc.28 Hours 15 Minutes

10/23/20133 HoursToday was my first day of Mentorship, I met my mentor Jen or Jennifer Soto, she is one of the many Pediatric Nurses at the office. I also met all the other nurses which were all very welcoming, Vira, Jojo, and Roxanne. The two Pediatric Doctors in the office are Dr. Tsai and Dr. Lui. My mentor welcomed me to follow around any of the nurses since they all do much of the same job she does. I also met an inter from Chino Hills High School, Leslie, she was also observing what Jen did. When we entered the first roon there was a mom with her son and daughter, Jen started of by asking, "What brought you here today, mom?" and the mom said that her son had had fever for quite a while now. Jen went about chacking the son's pulse and his ears, while she did this she asked for what medicine he was taking; she jots this down in their manila folder. She then said that the Dr. will be with you shortly and we left.3 Hours

10/30/20133 HoursToday Jojo asked me to hand this paper to a mother that was sitting in the sick room. The sick room is specialized for patients that are coughing or just sick so that they don't release that contaminant to those that are not sick. I went in and handed the paper to the woman and she only spoke Spanish so she asked me what she had to do, being a Spanish speaker I helped her fill out what the paper asked of her. She thanked me and I returned the paper to Jojo. Along with following Jen around, I also filed patients files in their assigned places; there is alot of patients but luckily the folders are alphabetized by last name.6 Hours

10/31/20133 Hours It is Halloween! The location of the Pediatrics office is in a shopping center, the shopping center has this event where all the participating stores and businesses give out candy, my mentor and I gave out candy to little kids that would come by; she and the other nurses were dressed with ninja turtle shirts.9 Hours

2/6/20143 HoursIt has been a while since I have gone over to my mentorship, we have a new nurse now, her name is Stephanie.12 Hours

2/7/20143 HoursHaving a new nurse is not like I thought it would be, I was expecting a whole new mentorship. But since I know everyone it really didn't make a difference. I went about helping around the office and seeing the interaction between the nurses and patients.15 Hours

2.12.20143 HoursToday I met a really sweet little baby, I was behind the counter with Jojo and the mom was signing in the sign in sheet. He was just smiling, all you would have to do is smile and he would smile as well.18 Hours

2/13/20143 HoursGoing in with one of the nurses, I witnessed a baby of one month be weighed, he was crying during the process but once in the arms of his mom, he was ok.21 Hours

2/19/20143 HoursToday, like a previous time, I hunted missing files. I looked through the nurses station, the back, and the filing room. I found some in the nurses station and some I found in the back. When I first looked for files I was pretty frightened by the by how many boxes were back there with files. Before I even thought about starting to search there I gave them a quick glance and saw they were files that weren't in use anymore. 24 Hours

2/20/20143 HoursI walked in to be greeted by one of my favorite movies, Hotel Transylvannia. I watch as the kids are entertained by the movie. Some little girl walks up to us and asks if we could put little mermaid in the sick room and Jojo walks over and places it in the TV. The way Jojo interacted with her reminded me of how different it is to talk to a little kid. Sometimes I think that maybe mothers are better at it then women that aren't mothers?27 Hours

2/24/20143 HoursGoing in today I observed how the nurses would talk to the patients, specifically looking out for the kinds of questions they would ask or how they would strike a conversation. Some kids are very quiet and so getting them to talk is always something a nurse does. Kids that are more social tend to be easier to have a conversation with. 30 Hours

3/19/20143 HoursA little boy walked up to Jojo today and asked if she could put on his favorite movie, he spoke to her the way he would to a friend. She knew him and he knew her, I could tell that he had been going there for years and had enough confidence in speaking with her and all the other nurses.33 Hours

3/20/20143 HoursI watch in amazement of how the nurses know almost every single parent and child, I hadn't really payed enough attention to it before. Sometimes the nurses will ask about other family members and how their work is going; things friends would talk about. I just don't know how they can hold so many faces in their brain, I guess it comes from years of having been there.36 Hours

4/1/20143 HoursToday I went about doing my normal duties and helping around, I went on back and saw some of the magazines that were there and was interested in many. I saw some that talked about diabetes, healthy meals, and just typical drama ones. I handed out stickers to patients that came and asked for some, asking them which one they liked. It was a relaxing day.39 Hours

4/2/20143 HoursI caught up with Vira today and she asked me about college and how it was going. It was really nice talking to a professional about what you want to do because they can give you advice, although it is not necessarily the field I want, it falls pretty close. Pediatric nurses interact more with the patient and their family than a doctor because doctors are busy with all the things they have to do.42 Hours

4/4/20143 HoursJojo explained to me how hectic this month was going to be. Dr. Tsai and Dr. Lui were each going to take a week off because their children were going to have spring break. When Dr. Tsai was to be gone, only Dr. Lui would be at service and when Dr. Lui was to be gone, only Dr. Tsai would be available. The weeks would be back to back. Jojo had to reschedule all the appointments that were set up for the doctor when they would be gone. It was alot of people.45 Hours

5/1/20143 HoursToday Jojo and the whole crew looked exhausted, Jojo had mentioned that it had been a long day and she just wanted to go home. There was a bunch of calls coming in. A mother and daughter both called in because they were lost. Jojo was faxing papers that needed to be sent to another doctors office. 48 Hours

5/5/20143 HoursToday I was told that Chino Pediatrics was moving locations, Jojo gave me a slip with the new address. I know where the new location is because I have grown around this area for so long, it just seems like it is a smaller location but I haven't been inside yet so maybe it is bigger. I asked jojo about what is going to happen to the location that they are based in now and she said she didn't know. She just said that the doctors had bought a new location.51 Hours
