Basic Saxon Dress Class - Deciphering the Instructions from the Known World HandbookLady Branwyn of Markland (Laura Labelle), and Lady Anika (Dakota Laney)Using the instructions in the KWH, measure and make a pattern for a Saxon dress. This would be a good workshop for newbies or beginners making their "first" garb. When reading the KWH, the instructions for making the Saxon dress can seem somewhat daunting, but it really is very easy (as I found out, once I got past the reading and started doing). All it requires is a tape measure, pencil, pattern or craft paper, calculator (or good guessing - knowledge/memory of geometry helps, but isn't necessary), and scissors. Participants will get their measurements taken and then make a basic dress pattern to take home and use. They will also be shown/given the cloak pattern instructions. However, we won't make the cloak pattern at this time. If participants want to bring fabric and start a dress they can, and I will show hand stitching techniques - I recommend about 4 yds of fabric (cotton/cotton blends or linen/linen blends are easy to work with), pins, needles, and thread. Participants will be able to take their patterns home. Students should bring their own scissors and calculator. 2$5 1216 years old +1

Basic/Intermediate Lucet ClassM'Lady Ankharet verch MereduddIn this class we will go over how to do a basic lucet braid first (more of a review). Then we will be working on adding beads in two ways, on the thread, and an independent threaded braid. This class is both a beginner and intermediate level class, because if you corchet or knit this proces may be realtively easy for a "beginner" in lucet work. If you are not familiar with hand crafts such as this, you will probably not get very far and the manipulation of the beads and cordage will probably frustrate you. Adding Beads to Lucet work is a great deal of fun and adds some "bling" to your traditional cording that can then be couched. If you have string, beads, and lucet, the class will be free for you. 2$12 1016 years old +1Wed10am-12

Basics of PatterningTanglwyst de Holloway, OPThis class is designed to give you the basics for understanding the language of fabric and then take you into a hand-on section where you learn to apply that knowledge. Fabric speaks in various dialects and sometimes, it has such a severe accent, it’s nigh impossible to interpret correctly. But luckily, there are a few things that are universal. Fabric is rather like software. It is not self-aware and does not hate you, despite all indicators to the contrary. It does only what you tell it to. The careful and predictable application of Physics to fabric will tell you not only what to do, but what has been done to it. Also, we will go over the method and value of fitting a garment and what it can do for you.1Free2012 years old +1

Breaking the Rumor MillTanglwyst de Holloway, OP, and Duena Syeira Calamante, OPRumors occur anytime someone interacts with someone else, and this is observed by a third person who then tells someone else. Seems overly simple? Well, that’s because it really is that simple. Anytime you do something, someone who sees it can talk about it and you never know HOW they saw it. If left unattended, if you don’t step up and deal with this, you could have a real problem on your hands. This class helps you with these situations and teaches you how to prevent others. Students should bring pencil or pen, and paper to take notes.1Free2012 years old +1Thurs11am-12

Persona DevelopmentTanglwyst de Holloway, OPThis class is a chance for you to discover yourself, to not just spin a yarn, but to dye the wool, spin it, then weave the tapestry of your alternate self. It also will give you a background for any characters you are writing about in your stories because it will help breathe real life via experiences into them. To do this, we will explore the drama of your persona’s life. It may not seem like it, but every life has drama in it. We don’t actually have to make up the drama of everyday life that we live every day. What we have to do today is discover the history of the person you become on weekends, the one who camps in that tent and wears that garb, but who possibly dreams of pavilions and medallions and spurs and crowns. So, let’s meet you!1Free2012 years old +1Thurs1-2pm
