2/15/20149 hours Today I completed Unit 1 of my independent component. Unit 1 covered the introduction to anatomy, which is the basics of anatomy that doesn't go to in depth. Its teh vroadest level of human anatomy so it covers each organ system and their functions. Throughout this unit there was basic terminology to help you understand the concepts better. As I was going thorugh this unit I took notes in my notebook on all of the videos and documents I had to watch and read. At the end of the unit I took the quiz/assessment and scored a 38 out of 40 or 95%. 9 hours

2/22/20144 hours and 30 minutes Today I completed Unit 2 of my independent component. Unit 2 covers the integumentary system, which is basically the skin. Throughout this unit it talked about the structures of the skin, hair, nails, and cutaneous glands which are all parts of the integumentary system. The integumentary system is the structure that provides insulation and a first line of defense against infection. Throughout the unit I took notes on the videos and the documents that were in the subunits. At the end of the unit I took the quiz and scored a 38 out of 40 or a 95%. 13 hours and 30 minutes

2/28/20147 hours and 30 minutes Since unit 3 takes up a lot of time I decided to break it up into 3 pieces. Today I did the first chunk of unit 3. Unit 3 covers the skeletal system. I watched 2 lectures that were 2 and 3 different lectures combined into one video. These videos cover the basics of the skeletal system. During these videos I took notes in my notebook on the key terms and important information. This will help me pass the quiz at the end of the unit. 21 hours

3/1/20147 hours and 30 minutes Today I worked on the second part of unit 3. I watched more videos on the vertebral coumn, the thorax, and the skull. I also watched lectures on more of the basics of the skeletal system and the bones of the lower extremities and the foot. Throughout these lectures I took notes in my notebook so I can pass the quiz/assessment at the end of the unit. 28 hours and 30 minutes

3/2/20147 hours and 30 minutes Today I finished up unit 3. Today I read a bit in the Gray's Anatomy book on the skeletal system. I finished up the ecture videos on the skeletal system and read up on parts of the bone. During all of this I took notes in my notebook to help me pass the unit 3 assessment. At the end of the unit I took the assessment and got 39 out of 40 correst or 98%. 36 hours

3/6/20144hours and 30 minutesToday I started unit 4. I listened to the first lecture on the muscular system and took notes on it. This was a complex lecture my Professor Marian Diamond from UC Berkeley. The information was from a general human anatomy book. This lecture focused on the names of the different muscles throughout the body. 40 hours and 30 minutes

3/7/20147 hours and 30 minutesToday I continued unit 4. I listened two different lectures and took notes on each. the first lecture was on the muscles in the head and neck. The other lecture was on the muscles in the upper arm. I also read from Gray's Anatomy on the section on the muscles of teh head and neck to help guide me. There was also a reading for the muscles of the uoper arm, which focused on the muscles of the shoulder. 48 hours

3/8/20147 hours and 30 minutes Today I continued unit 4. I read two different sections from the Gray's Anatomy book which focused on the muscles of the forearm and the muscles of the wrist. Next, I listened to a lecture on the different muscles of the thorax and abdomen. There was a reading from Gray's Anatomy to go along with it which focused on the muscles of the trunk. The last subunit I did focused on the muscles of the hip and lower limbs. This section also had a reading in Gray's Anatomy that I read which focused on the lower extremeites. 55 hours and 30 minutes

3/9/20143 hours Today I finished up unit 4. I did the last subunit which focused on muscular tissue. I listened to the lecture on the muscular tissue. Then I read a section on the mechanics of muscles in the Gray's Anatomy book. There was also another reading on animal cells and tissue by John Kimball. Finally, there was a lab which was different mini quizzes on the different muscles in the different sections of the body. Lastly, I took the unit 4 assessment. 58 hours and 30 minutes

3/14/20143 hours Today I started unit 5. I listened to the first lecture on neurohistology and took notes on it. Next, I read the reading that went along with that lecture in the Gray's Anatomy book. There was also a reading by John Kimball on Animal Tissues. Next, I watched a khan academy video on the anatomy of a neuron.61 hours and 30 minutes

Next, I took a mini assessment which was a labeling exercise where you had to label different parts of the nervous system. 3/16/20146 hours Today I continued unit 5. I read a reading on the spinal cord in the Gray's Anatomy book. I read another reading by John Kimball on the human central nervous system. I did a mini assessment which was a labeling exercise where you had to label the different parts of the spinal cord and spinal nerves. I did the next subunit as well where I listened to a lecture on the motor pathways and forebrain. For this subunit I also had a reading in the Gray's Anatomy book which focused on the brain. I also had a reading in the Gray's Anatomy book on the spinal nerves. 73 hours and 30 minutes

I read a reading in the Gray's Anatomy book on the sympatheitc nerves.I also had another reading by John Kimball on the autonomic nervous system.There was also a mini assessment which included a label exercise where you had to label the nervous system and afterwards it quizzed you on the nervous system. Finally I read the last reading which was on the somatic nervous system. 76 hours and 30 minutes

3/22/20144 hours and 30 minutes Today I started unit 6. I read the reading on animal cells and tissues by Michael Farabee. Next, I listened to the lecture on hematology and cardiology and took notes on it. Then I read a reading on the heart in the Gray's Anatomy book. Finally, I did a labelling exercise where I labeled the different parts of the heart and then I took a quiz on the heart. 81 hours

3/23/20144 hours and 30 minutesToday I finished unit 6. I listened to a lecture on the blodd vascular system. Then there was a reading I read which was on the arteries in the Gray's Anatomy book. I also listened to another lecture which continued off of the other lecture on the blood vascular system. I read another reading in the Gray's Anatomy book that was on the veins. Finally, I took the assessment which was a quiz on the peripheral circulation and regulation.85 hours and 30 minutes

Then I did a mini assessment which was a labeling exercise where I had to label the different parts of the lymphatic system. Finally, I took the unit 7 assessment. 90 hours

Then there was a reading on the human respiratory system by John Kimball. I took notes on both of these readings. Next, I listened to a lecture on the respiratory system and took notes on it. Then I did a reading in the Gray's Anatomy book on the larynx. Next I listened to the other part of the lecture and took notes on it. Then I read another reading on the lungs which was in the Gray's Anatomy book. 94 hours ad 30 mintues

Then there was another reading on the ureters in the Gray's Anatomy book. Finally, there was one more reading on the male urethra and the female urethra in the Gray's Anatomy book. I took notes on all of these readings. Finally, I took the assessment which included a labeling exercise where I had to label the different parts of the urinary system. I also had to take a quiz on the urinary system for the unit 10 assessment. 112 hours and 30 minutes

Then there was another reading on the hormones of the pancreas and the hormones of the reprodcutive system by John Kimball. Finally, there was a reading on the endocrine system by Michael Farabee. 121 hours and 30 minutes

Next, I listened to the lecture on the female reproductive system and took notes on it. Then, I read a reading in the Gary's Anatomy book on the female genital organs. next, I watched another lecture, but this time on the male reproductive system and took notes on this as well. Then, I read another reading in the Gray's Anatomy book, but this time it was on the male genital organs. Finally, I took the unit 12 assessment which included a labeling exercise where I had to label the different parts of the reproductive system and there was also a quiz on the reproductive system. 126 hours
