Garden design (Sorry - I don't have a clever name yet)I don't know if this already exists, but I've always had a problem visualizing how different plants/flowers would look in my yard. I would like an app that, depending on the colors I like and the geographic area that I live in, would show me potential garden designs. Maybe you could even go to the local garden store and select plants you like and then the app would give you an appealing configuration for them in your yard, tell you how many of each you need based on their growing patterns, etc.Erin H.

Fruit & Veggie CodesFruit and veggie codes for grocery chexk out. I hate having to look up fruit and veggie codes in grocery checkout lines. Is there a better way to check out ? Is there a way to use the codes to order produce from local vendors? Find out what's in season. etc. etc.ST

What is it?Some times i find Mystery items in produce section of grocery what is it? Fruit, vegetable or imported mystery item?? is there a way to find out what it is and is it good for me? Where did it come from? How do I cook/ eat it? What is reasonable price to pay for this item?ST
32
Food bioengineeringSomething that tells about what we are growing, buying, consuming--down to the nitty gritty details of what it is. I don't think any horticulture item is an original anymore. What is it, what's in it? Perhaps Farmers/landscapers would like this type of app also? ST
33
Plant GodA virtual plant splicing game where users can splice different plant species together to form new plants. The goal of the game is to educate users on the plant varieties, classes, categorizations and attributes. Users can then collect plant types from other players, be connected to real life variations of the plants they think would be cool to make and learn more about the industry. DanR

Can I eat it? Should I?An application that helps you identify food out in the forest as well as in everyday life: is it poisonous?/what's the nutritional value?/How to prepare it out in the woods. Ideal for campers and backpacker or just people who enjoy walking out in the woods. We've had thousands of years to figure out what's edible in the forest; why isn't this information available to all of us readily? Take advantage of evolution: gives info on fruits, berries, and even game out in the forest (perfect for hunters too). NickB

Hot or Not? An app to easily enter and track heat data in cattle. It could be calendar based, but must be able to save your cattle in the system and add the heat when you see it. It would be nice to see results for the entire herd, a group or an individual animal. May also have levels of heat (stage 1), (stage 2), or stage (3). DB

EXPLORE! Dog or EXPLORE! Swine or EXPLORE! Lawn Care!: Animal and plant science information available to youth through educational games and activitiesLearning Lab Kits are existing “high-touch, low-tech” products purchased mainly by schools, counties, and 4-H clubs from Ohio 4-H. We propose a series of mobile apps that brings the content of the kits directly into the hands of individual youth by allowing them to test their knowledge of, for example, beef anatomy, breeds, feet and leg structure, meat science, and quality assurance. Content already exists on interactive CDs for beef, dairy, sheep, swine, poultry, goat, rabbit, horse, dog, plant ID, lawn and garden equipment, and lawn care. Let's go mobile!Jane W.

Meat price forecasterAn app that forecasts where meat prices should be in the coming months based on historical pricing and future considerations. Right now butcher shops have to spend tons of time researching (and failing) to get the right meat prices locked in for the next couple to several months. The problem is there are so many different prices from so many different processing plants to get the meat from.Vince Y.
39
Plant MasterDevelop an app with archived listings of the different categories of beneficial plants that can grow in different regions of the World and how to use them. It should be interactive and easy to use. Social programs would find this sort of app invaluable in teaching and growing ag development programs in developing countries. At least Spanish/English would be necessary.Vince Y.
40
Fix Me UpAn app which promotes agricultural equipment maintenance communications among the farm / processor team. Allows the user to photo (or describe) a piece of equipment (down to individual components) and then categorize the maintenance needed or define an opportunity for design or process improvement. A highly effective app would allow the user to quickly link to operator or parts manual including specific pages. BKG
41
Butcher BlockApplication which allows small meat processors or butchers to achieve high carcass yields while meeting specific order / buyers preferences. Less ground product and more opportunities for specialty / unique cuts. Also for communicating with those purchasing 1/4 ,1/2 and whole carcasses prior to processing. http://nelpsc.com/BKG

eat this nowApp that keeps track of expiration dates for the food you have in your fridge/pantry and reminds you to eat them when the expiration is coming up. Also includes nutritional info and links to quick recipe ideas. maybe the phone could scan a bar/QR code that has product info (including expiration/best by date and nutritional info). collects data on foods plugged in by users and predicts/averages the expiration dates for things that don't have one listed (like produce) or are actually good for longer than listed (like milk)JFeng

food towniethe perfect app for the "food townie." a food townie is someone who is obsessively snobbish about the source of the food he/she is consuming. this app will show the user the produce/products that are available at all the local farmers' markets in his/her area. so maybe i go to the clintonville farmers market every saturday, but they never have spinach. to buy spinach i need to go shop at kroger, not knowing that the campus farmers market has spinach every week. this app will show the user everything that is available at farmers' markets across the city, farmers in the surrounding area that are selling produce from their homes, neighbors in your area that could have a surplus of certain produce in their backyard gardens, and grocery stores that are selling locally produced goods. Corbett, Dana

Good BuysAn app similar in spirit to "eat this now". But it's utility is during grocery shopping. It can be used to scan bar-codes and keep track of nutrition info and alert the user when something is a "red flag". categorize the items into good buys and bad buys. Give some stats like "2 Servings of the product is equivalent to your daily requirement of sodium" etc. Maybe recommend replacing something in your "bad buys" list with a healthier substitute. It can also be used to learn the shopping habits of the user and prepare a grocery list. It could also probably notify a user regularly of how much better his diet is because of the substitutes he makes in his purchase. Tarun
