This is a spreadsheet created as part of the WDMMG (http://www.wheredoesmymoneygo.org/) project of the OKF (http://www.okfn.org/)

It will be used as backend data for visualization connected with the UK deficit and senarios for reducing it

The spreadsheets contain both data reported by external bodies as well as some calculated values, using simple formule, for comparison. Other columns also report the error between calculated and reported values. One objective is to build approximate models (such as how total taxation receipts vary with changes in taxation rules, employment market size, income distribution, economic activity) to allow the effect of different taxation and spending senarios to be explored and projected.

Conventions

All sheets in this spreadsheet (other than this one) record different historical or theoretical spending/taxation senarios

For historical data, sheet names start with a date representing the publication of core dataset from which they are derived

Rows of data are labelled as 'Outturn', 'Estimate' or 'Forcast'. In general, there should not be duplicate rows labelled 'Outturn' for the same date across spreadsheets

Columns of data represent time series of economic values: those labelled [Cal] are calculated by simple spreadsheet formule or models; those labelled [Err] represent differences between reported and calculated values

Rows or Columns labelled 'NOTES' contain meta data, working calculations etc. and should be ignored in any external data processing

The time series are organised around the UK financial year of 1/4/XX - 31/3/YY: hence '2008' is shorthand for fy 2008-09
