Getting Snappy with #BOOKSNAPS, #REALyouSnaps & #GratitudeSnaps USING GOOGLE SLIDES AND BITMOJI

Start by Creating your Bitmoji Account

  • Download the Bitmoji App on your phone in Google Play or the Apple App Store
  • Open the App and Create your Bitmoji
  • Add the Bitmoji Extension to Chrome.

Now When you open Chrome, you will see the Bitmoji Extension beside your search bar. Just click on it to add a Bitmoji

What the heck is a #BookSnap?

It’s a way to visually demonstrate learning and then share it with an authentic audience.

Why #BookSnap?

  • A way to annotate what you/Students are reading
  • It’s a way to visually show learning and help you remember it.
  • You can use it with any discipline, subject. If you can read about it, you can #BookSnap it!
  • When you tweet it out via it’s own hashtag #BookSnaps, you are sharing the idea and inviting feedback from other learners.
  • It’s easy to do and so much fun!

How the heck do you do it?

Lots of ways to do it and lots of apps and platforms you can use. (Check out Tara Martin’s website for tutorials)

Today I will focus on how to do it using Google Slides and Bitmoji

Step 1: Open up a new Google slide presentation

Step 2:

take a picture of the text

  • You can use your phone or the camera on on your chromebook.iPad/desktop
  • Upload the photo to your google drive
  • Import the photo into your slide
  • Crop it or make it your background

Highlight the text you want to share

  • Use the drawing tool, or a shape tool to highlight the text you want to share

Step 4:

Bitmoji

Bitmoji is an extension in Chrome that allows you to add in transparent Bitmojis

If Bitmoji extension is blocked in your school account...save a copy of the desired Bitmoji to your camera roll and upload it to your google Drive. If you do it this way, it is not transparent but you can crop it to make it work.

on Twitter

  • Take a screenshot of your new #BookSnap and share it on Twitter
  • Use the #BookSnaps and any other hashtag you think might apply (like a book hashtag)
  • Tag Tara Martin - she loves to see the #Booksnaps folks and students create @TaraMartinEDU and she often replies to them!

  • Use your iPad/phone/chromebook to take a selfie (landscape mode) - leave some space on the side to add in pictures
  • Upload it to your slide

3. Add in emojis, bitmojis or cartoons that show the things you like to do or that show who you are.

  • Use your iPad/phone/chromebook to take a selfie (landscape mode) - or a picture of/from an event or use a picture you already have.
  • Upload it to your slide
