CCA Provision 2023-24

Co-curricular activities enhance and build on children’s experiences and learning within the school. The activities will contribute to their intellectual, social, cultural and emotional growth. They cater to a wide variety of needs and cultures within the school community and will be used to forge links with the wider community.

Our expectation is that all students become involved in some form of regular activity outside of school hours for their general health and wellbeing. Staff offer co-curricular activities in the areas of their passion and expertise.

In addition, student-run CCAs will be offered alongside those taken by staff. Student-run CCAs are taken by secondary students, usually targeted to primary, and must be approved by the College and have a teacher mentor to provide guidance and develop the leadership skills of the student leader.

We encourage our students at Discovery College to use the CCA programme to “Discover where their true passion lies” by engaging in as many Co-Curricular activities as possible.

3 av 21

Recently, there has been a significant increase in the number of students participating in the CCA programme. This progress has allowed us to invest more resources into developing and expanding the programme this year. We believe that it's important for all students to engage in regular activities outside of school hours for their overall health and wellbeing. Therefore, we encourage all students to get involved in some form of extracurricular activity.

As we see more demand and growth we will be adding more CCA opportunities as Terms progress. As we commence Term 1 Activities, enrolment will remain open for CCAs which still have spaces available or when we add a new activity.

We will advertise these opportunities, along with new student-led offerings, on the Student Bulletin as well as the Explorer Newsletter.

Due to high demand for CCAs, we ask for your patience when waiting for a response. Enrolment will remain open for the activities that have availability throughout the entire Term 1 period.
