Junior & Intermediate Gr. 3-8: Library Expectations

  • Enter the Library quietly.
  • Please use your indoor voices, no yelling.
  • Take care of books. Please do not bend, rip, or draw on them.
  • Bring books back on your Library day.
  • Keep the library space neat and clean.
  • Push in chairs, don’t leave things on the floor, & tidy up your activities.
  • Make sure the library is ready for the next class.
  • Be mindful to everyone using the space! 😊

πŸ“šGet a Shelf Marker from the Circulation Desk.

  1. Insert your shelf marker in the spot you want to pull out a book..
  2. Pull out a book to look at.
  3. Put the book back in the spot that you have your shelf marker if you don’t want it.

What Books Should Never Look Like:

  • If you are not sure where a book goes, place them in the Return Bin.
  • Do not have any food or drinks near your books.

Reserves

  • If you would like to place a hold on a book, follow these instructions: How to Reserve a Book
  • You may sign-out your reserved book on your library day, at the Circulation Desk.
  • Access the Library Catalogue to search for books.

Book Hospital

  • Any books that are damaged like ripped or missing pages, please place them in the Book Hospital bin located at the Circulation Desk.

Suggesting Books

  • Students can suggest books for the library by filling out this form: Book Suggestions

Accessing Ebooks & Audiobooks

  • Students can access ebooks & audiobooks through Sora!
  • Use your HDSB email address and password to login.

Remember

Return your books on time!

  • Students have 2 weeks to read a book before you have to return them.
  • Students will not be able to take out any new books until you return your books first.
