The Course includes:

• Curriculum, curated from open-source NextGenPersonalFinance materials, that is aligned with the National Standards for Personal Financial Education
• Workshops powered by local business leaders and university students that teach students how to develop a business plan while thinking critically and creatively. The workshops culminate with a competition that serves as a showcase for student work, offering participants the opportunity to earn $1,000 seed investments in their new ventures.

This course is an ELECTIVE and must be approved by Mr. Schreiber before the close of the 21-22 school year.

The PEER GROUP CONNECTION Leadership Program

• The Peer Group Connection-High School (PGC-HS) program will train juniors and seniors on ways to help ninth grade students make a successful transition into high school. Throughout the year, peer leaders will work in pairs as group discussion leaders and positive role models for the 9th graders. During weekly sessions, peer leaders will lead discussions and activities with the same small group of 9th graders.

•Orient peer leaders to PGC

•Build teamwork and trust among the group

Peer leaders are responsible for:

•Participating in the 3-Day Overnight Retreat

•Attending all PGC functions during the school year (retreats and summer bridge training)

•Maintaining confidentiality among peer leaders and ninth graders

•Being an objective, non-judgmental role model

•Maintaining or improving academic performance

•Obeying school policies

•Become more supportive and appreciative of others and more respectful of differences
