is called a portrait.
Artists are very good at showing how they feel in a self-portrait. They find those feelings more important than painting exactly what they look like in real life. They do this, for example, by using certain colors.
• How do you think this artist felt when he painted himself?
• What makes you think that?
• How does the lady in the painting feel?
• What makes you think that?
To work!
Now you become artists yourself. You are going to make a portrait or a flower. In your work of art you will show how you feel and what you like.
Every year in November, the Glow light festival takes place in Eindhoven. Dozens of national and international light artists show their work in various places in the City of Light. This year, Glow will take place from November 11 to 18.
- Have you ever looked at a GLOW work of art?
- Which ones can you remember and why?
- What else can you tell us about GLOW?
We are going to make a work of art for GLOW. An local artist combines a lot of works of art into one large projection. He shows this on the walls of the Paterskerk. It then seems as if there are no walls, but only leaded windows with stained glass.
• Do you know what leaded windows are?

Do you remember what leaded windows look like? Draw a black line around each colored piece of paper
TADAAA!
When you are finished, present your work in class. What colors did you use? Why did you choose these colors?
The teacher takes a photo or copy of all works of art and sends them to Glow. Maybe the artist will use your portraits and flowers in his light-art during GLOW!
Real artists show their works of art to groups of people. They create an exhibition and invite everyone to come and enjoy.
We can do the same in our school! Maybe other groups will want to join in! We can take a look at all the works of art in our own exhibition! Can you find your own work of art? Do you recognize someone from your group?
