Purpose: Design/prototype a ~1/15 scale platform for miniature smart cars such that they can be repeatedly tested in the orbit smart city environment. By the end of the internship, we hope to:
Produce a 3D model and 3D print of the car chassis
Prototype simple electrical systems on a PCB
Program microcontrollers with sensors
Ultimately create a functioning car
Our design will use a rear-wheel single motor drive with a servo for Ackermann steering. The car will use a microcontroller to generate control signals, and take in data from sensors (IMU, encoders, etc.)
The car will utilize an Intel RealSense Depth Camera and UP Board
We hope to work closely with the autonomous infrastructure group to ensure our sensors and prototype will match their needs
