About Mrs. Memar

  • B.S. Math and Computer Science from California State University San Marcos
  • M.A. in Education form Phoenix University
  • Have been working at SDUHSD since 2011 at numerous high schools and middle schools
  • Have worked at PTMS since 2016
  • Love working with children and educating them
  • Enjoy traveling, gardening, crocheting, walking at the beach, and spending time with family and friends.

About Mrs. Krommenhoek

  • I have been working in education for 18 years!
  • I taught in Redlands USD for 5 years before joining SDUHSD in 2012.
  • I’ve taught at PTMS since its opening in 2015!
  • I’ve also taught at EWMS, CVMS, and TPHS.
  • I received my BA in Political Science from Long Beach State and my in MA in Special Education from Chapman University
  • Credentialled to teach Mild/Mod students (Education Specialist Level II)
    • Autism Spectrum Disorder Authorization
    • Authorization to Teach English Learners, NCLB Compliant
    • English and Social Sciences Matter Authorization, NCLB Compliant
  • I love BEING OUTSIDE! Gardening, traveling, walking, camping, off-roading, hiking, MTB, spending time with my dog, and more recently blowing big bubbles.
  • My indoor activities include cooking, crafting, and sewing.

Math A Essential overview

In Math A Essentials students will learn 7th grade Math standards such as ratios, rates, proportional relationships, operations with rational numbers, expressions, and solving equations.

At the same time they will review any 5th and 6th grade math standards that are difficult for students using a computer base software called IXL.

Recommended Supplies

  • Math A Essentials binder
  • Lined/graph paper
  • pens
  • Pencils
  • Eraser
  • Basic calculator to use at home
  • School assigned Chromebook

Grading

Grades for this class will be calculated with the following weighting and enters into Aeries frequently.

      • 50% Assessments (Tests and Quizzes)
      • 40% Assignments (Homework, Homework Quizzes, Warm- Ups, Notes, etc.)
      • 10% IXL

Homework

  • Assigned daily, homework is posted on the whiteboard and the class website, and is to be completed by the next class meeting.
  • Must be completed in pencil.
  • Homework is reviewed and corrected in class.

Assessments

Assessments are 50% of overall grades

  • At least one 50 points quiz per module
  • There are not retakes for any assessments.
  • We will review, correct, and reflect the assessments in class.
  • If further review of an assessment is necessary, then students may come in during homeroom or make an appointment to go over your work.

IXL

  • The IXL platform is a personalized digital learning space that covers K-12 curriculum
  • Every week students are assigned a practice to work on.
  • They earn completion credit
  • Students can work on IXL at home.

What does your student need to do when s/he is absent?

  • If your student is absent, s/he needs to copy the class notes linked to the class calendar and make up the homework
  • If your student is absent on the day of an assessment, s/he must make arrangements as soon as possible to schedule a make-up time.

Your student needs help?

  • Ask for a homeroom pass to come and see one of us.
  • Watch the supplemental videos, work on extra worksheets using the link on the resource page on my website.

  • Don’t wait till the last minute to get help!

How to preparing for assessments?

  • Re-do missed homework problems
  • Review the notes and class activities!
  • Raise hand & ask questions during class
  • Find a classmate to call for help & to study with.
  • Make an appointment to see one of the teachers.
