Right to Education Act to cover the four years of preschool before Class 1

( Playgroup,Balavitka 1,Balavitka 2 & Balavitka 3).

Thus, all Indian children could soon enter the formal education system ( Grade 1 ) at the age of 6.

HIGHLIGHT 2

Early childhood education would be overseen and regulated by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) which will now be called Ministry of Education (MOE) as part of the school system.

It suggests a new integrated curricular framework for 2 to 8-year olds with a flexible system based on play, activity and discovery, and beginning exposure to three languages from age 3 onwards. Special attention will be given to early language and mathematics in Grades 1 to 5

Examination systems will be radically changed to assess real learning, make them stress-free, and aim for improvement instead of the passing of judgements.

Restructuring school curriculum and pedagogy in a new 5+3+3+4 design:

5 years of the Foundational Stage: 4 years of pre-primary school and Grades 1, 2. (With a prior one year in playgroup)

3 years of the Preparatory Stage: Grades 3, 4, 5. 3 years of the Middle School Stage: Grades 6, 7, 8.

4 years of the HighSchool Stage: Grades 9, 10, 11, 12

The demarcation between curricular extra curricular will no longer exist and PA,Wellness and DT will now be regarded as curricular subjects

The demand for teachers will increase in the coming years. New teachers need rigorous preparation and practising teachers need a professional development besides academic and professional support. The 4-year integrated Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) programme for teacher preparation will be offered as an undergraduate programme. However, the current two-year B.Ed will continue until 2030
