MODALS

​

Los verbos modales son un tipo de verbo auxiliar que se posiciona antes de verbo principal, asignando un significado adicional a dicho verbo. Ejemplos de verbos modales son las palabras “can”, “could”, “should”, “might”, “may”, “must” y “would”.

​

En esta lección aprenderemos cómo utilizar correctamente el verbo modal SHOULD para hablar de deberes morales o recomendaciones:

​

• You should study more (Deberías estudiar más)
• You shouldn’t drink so much (No deberías beber tanto)

¿CUÁNDO UTILIZAMOS “SHOULD”?

CRITERIOS DE USO

1. ADVICE: Utilizamos el verbo modal SHOULD cuando queremos expresar recomendaciones.

​

​

​

• RIGHT THING TO DO: Cuando queremos expresar una acción que consideramos debiera ser lo correcto o la acción ideal.

​

​

​

• HIGH PROBABILITY: Cuando existe una alta probabilidad de que algo suceda.

​

You shouldn’t smoke so much

No deberías fumar tanto

I should go to the doctor

Debería ir al doctor

Should I help her?

¿Debería ayudarla?
