It’s a great day for an adventure.
Let’s go grocery shopping!
First, we need to make a shopping list. We’ll need a piece of paper and a pen.
Salient Features: Paper is shaped like a rectangle. Pens are long and thin and have a pointed tip.

When we arrive at the grocery store, we’ll go to the meat section first. The meat section is where you can find many different types of meat, such as chicken, sausages, and steak.
Number 1 on my list is chicken! Let’s buy 1 chicken! Chicken is a type of meat called poultry because it comes from a bird...a chicken, to be exact!
Salient Features: A whole chicken has two white meat breasts, two dark meat drumsticks, two thighs, and two wings.

Number 2 on my list is sausage. Let’s buy 2 sausages! Sausage is a type of meat called pork because it comes from a pig.
Salient Features: Sausages are brown, long, and slightly curved.

Number 3 on my list is pizza. Let’s buy 3 slices of pizza!
Description: This slice of pizza is shaped like a triangle. It is flat, has a crust on one end, and has cheese on top. This pizza also has round, red pepperoni.

Number 4 on my list is a cupcake. Let’s buy four cupcakes. Cupcakes are fun for a celebration or an afternoon snack.
Salient Features: Cupcakes are shaped like a square on the bottom and a triangle on top. The top has frosting and sprinkles as decoration.

The grocery store's dairy section is where you can find many foods such as eggs, cheese, and milk.
Number 5 on my list is a bottle of milk. Let’s buy five bottles of milk! Milk is packaged in cardboard cartons or glass bottles. This glass bottle is filled with creamy white milk!
Salient Features: Glass milk bottles have a rectangular-shaped body with a circular, curved opening at the top.

Number 6 on my list is an egg. Let’s buy 6 eggs! The eggs you buy at the grocery store come from chickens and are brown or white. What color is this egg?
Salient Features: Eggs are round like an oval and have a fragile shell that is easily broken.

Number 7 on my list is a block of Swiss cheese. Let’s buy 7 blocks of Swiss cheese! Swiss cheese is made from milk and can be purchased in blocks or slices.
Salient Features: Swiss cheese is light yellow and has circular-shaped dimples.

Shopping in the dairy section sure was fun! Let’s check our list and do more grocery shopping! Number 8 on my list is bananas.
Bananas are found in the produce section. The produce section is where you can find lots of fruits and vegetables. Let’s buy 8 bananas.
Salient Features: Bananas are yellow, long, and slightly curved. They also have a hard stem at the end.

Number 9 on my list is pears. Let’s buy 9 pears.

alient Features: Pears are shaped like an oval with a wide round body and a narrow top. Pears have smooth, soft skin with a dimple at the bottom and a stem at the top. This pear also has a little green leaf connected to the stem.

Number 10 on my list is oranges. Let’s by 10 oranges!
Salient Features: Oranges are round, have tough skin, and are always the color orange. This orange has a short stem and a little green leaf on top.
