WHAT IS STUDENT COUNCIL?

Mission: Supporting the development of student leadership through building character, growing connections, and creating a culture of celebration.

Student Council is an organization for students seeking opportunities to become more involved at Lesher, show students and staff that they matter, and promote a positive climate and culture at Lesher.

PLEASE BE AWARE!

WHO IS STUDENT COUNCIL FOR?

ALL students! ALL grade levels! ALL in!

  • Any students motivated to become more involved in their school, improve leadership skills, and help students and staff feel appreciated!

  • Students are NOT RUNNING for specific officer positions!!!
  • There will NOT be an election, but rather a group of officers with varied leadership opportunities.
  • WE will have an ELO 2nd and 4th quarters and you have to be in the ELO in order to be an officer.

What to expect in a StuCo ELO:

  • An advisory day once a week and we will participate in outside days.
  • Book Study once a week: Deep Kindness and/or What is your Legacy?
  • To help create and hang up posters/flyers for events
  • Create decorations for Viking Night Out or one of the weeks we celebrate.
  • Help out around the school
  • Come up with ideas to make Lesher better and then follow through with them!

If you are interested in being an officer, please fill out this Google form by

Friday, September 27th . Mrs. Jennings will post the officers outside of room 6 (Mrs. Jennings’ room) and the office by October 4th.

Officer Responsibilities:

  • Follow Viking handbook.
  • Consistently promote positive climate and culture around Lesher
  • Willing to contribute extra time before or after school during busy events and preparation. However, you are not required to go to every meeting and take part in every event StuCo hosts!

INTERESTED IN BEING A MEMBER?

  • If you can’t be in the ELO for whatever reason and still want to participate in StuCo please come to our monthly meetings on the first Wednesday of every month. The first meeting is Wednesday, October 2nd from 2:30-3:15
  • You will have to abide by the same standards as officers, but you won’t have as many responsibilities.
  • Can’t make the meetings? Please reach out to Mrs. Jennings and we will try to work out how you can participate!
