PYP Transdisciplinary Themes

PYP Transdisciplinary Themes (Updated 2025)
To Do:
My Transdisciplinary Theme
I chose this theme because…
Central Idea
“Technological advancements impacts social issues, driving change and promoting sustainable development”
Key Concept | Line of Inquiry |
Function | How Game-Based Learning influences education |
Causation | Reasons Game-Based Learning (GBL) can improve the education system |
Change | Game-Based Learning changes education to promote sustainable learning |
This theme is connected to our topics because technology
is a big part of our research and it can help education but also,
some people may get addicted and technology can help kids with disability in doing their everyday task and learning new things and learning how to behave. Technology can help people learn differently like game based learning.

I want to…
Communicators
We express ourselves condently and creatively in more than
one language and in many ways. We collaborate effectively, listening carefully to the perspectives of other individuals and groups.
Balanced
We understand the importance of balancing different aspects of
our lives—intellectual, physical, and emotional—to achieve
well-being for ourselves and others. We recognize our interdependence with other people and with the world in which we live.
Being Internationally Minded
Choose 2-3 and delete the rest
After choosing 2-3:
I needed to be more confident when presenting, I should listen to others ideas.
I sometimes procrastinate because I want to play with my gadget more. I sometimes leave my work to be very last minute.

I researched my topics so I know about it. I think my topics are good. | Reflection: What did you do
|
Adjustment: What should you do differently I should have took my time so maybe I could get an even better answer. | Adjustment: What should you do differently I think I should be more open to ideas and suggestions. | Adjustment: What should you do differently I can add more information so I can know more about my topic and other people. |

Reflection: What did you do I emailed my mentor Coach Alfie. I made my LOIs and found possible sources for my research notes. | Reflection: What did you do We did our research questions. And I will meet with my mentor and start my research notes. | Reflection: What did you do I got a reply for someone I can interview, Mr. Carpena. I continued with my research notes. I watch videos and read articles. I will interview Mr. Carpena. |

My Success Criteria
| |
I was successful because… I conducted a survey to see how people react. I see that people think it is slightly effective. Not many people know what it is. GBL can’t fully replace traditional methods because many people have their own preferences. I found a game that helps people learn more about biology, Cellcraft. It is where you can learn how cells function, and how they were made. | I could’ve improved by… Finding more information like finding out the difference between GBL and Gamification. |
Be able to What would success look like? What skills might I use?
My Success Criteria
| |
I was successful because… I was happy PYPX is done and I made a few mistakes but I laughed it off. I was able to show my presentation and I knew my topic. | I could’ve improved by… Being more confident and not thinking that there are so many people watching. |
Action How would I make a positive change in my community?
My Success Criteria
| |
I was successful because… My website, I can update it, if I can find a new game, I can edit my website and add that game for people to visit. My website isn’t that hard to read so most of the age groups can read it. | I could’ve improved by… I need to make my design better because maybe few people can’t read it because of all the colors. |
I used to think... | but now I think... |
Gamification and Game-Based Learning are the same thing and that we (Domuschola) have both of them.
Gamification and Game-Based Learning (GBL) are different things. GBL is literally learning through games but gamification is learning the topic first then playing a game Edith the knowledge.
PYPX would be super hard, I have to concentrate a lot and I would want to get it over with.
PYPX is really fun, I don’t have to work too hard and I can just be chill and I can enjoy my presentation.
