Reflect on your interests and the social issues.

Are there any ideas that connect to technology?

What might you want to explore during your exhibition?

Choice 1:

Raising Awareness on What to do in Case of Natural Disasters Using Gaming

Choice 2:

Assisting Referees Officiate Football Games by Using More of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) Technology

Choice 3:

Students Having More Creative Thinking in Education By Using Game Based Learning (GBL)

I know...

  • People sometimes panic during a natural disaster because they don’t know what to do.
  • We can communicate other ways for people to know what to do during a natural disaster.

I know...

  • Without much VAR use, things can get really controversial like if the ball went out or not in Football.
  • There would be less controversy and hate to referees if there were more VAR technology.

I know...

  • School can make students academically intelligent but students also need to creativity intelligent.
  • Games can make students have better mindsets for school.
  • There are also some bad things about it.

I’d love to learn…

  • What is the best way to survive a natural disaster for example an earthquake, should you stand under a door frame, beside a bed or others?

I’d love to learn…

  • If the VAR technology can replace referees in the future. Will it be good because referees won’t be biased or will it be bad because robots have not feelings and and will replace people's jobs?

I’d love to learn…

  • What subjects of school can have GBL and what cannot have a game in them?
  • How students, teacher and parents react to education with gaming?

Student Name

Topic we would study...

Why I think it’s a good fit..

Tres

PYP Transdisciplinary Themes (Updated 2025)

To Do:

  1. Decide with your teacher and group which theme(s) would be most appropriate for your inquiry

  1. Click on the theme you choose

  1. Copy it and paste it on the next slide

10 of 36

My Transdisciplinary Theme

I chose this theme because…

Central Idea

“Technological advancements impacts social issues, driving change and promoting sustainable development”

Key Concept

Line of Inquiry

Function

How Game-Based Learning influences education

Causation

Reasons Game-Based Learning (GBL) can improve the education system

Change

Game-Based Learning changes education to promote sustainable learning

This theme is connected to our topics because technology

is a big part of our research and it can help education but also,

some people may get addicted and technology can help kids with disability in doing their everyday task and learning new things and learning how to behave. Technology can help people learn differently like game based learning.

Idea 1

Idea 2

Idea 3

  • I want to ask a developer of games to make a game about a specific topic that I don’t know yet.
  • Make a website about GBL and let people visit. I can add my research note contents in it.
  • Make an interactive game through Minecraft. But it might take a long time to do.

12 of 36

My Skills

  • Delete the skills you will not focus on

  • Explain what developing this skill might look like

Ex: Thinking

I want to use the design cycle to

create a ______

I will use Tinkercad

to 3D print a _____

Thinking/Research

I want to…

  • Apply my research from my research notes to make a website.
  • I can use Google Form to make a website.

13 of 36

Communicators

We express ourselves condently and creatively in more than

one language and in many ways. We collaborate effectively, listening carefully to the perspectives of other individuals and groups.

Balanced

We understand the importance of balancing different aspects of

our lives—intellectual, physical, and emotional—to achieve

well-being for ourselves and others. We recognize our interdependence with other people and with the world in which we live.

Being Internationally Minded

Choose 2-3 and delete the rest

After choosing 2-3:

  • Highlight which part you most need to work on
  • Add a textbox explaining why you chose each profile

I needed to be more confident when presenting, I should listen to others ideas.

I sometimes procrastinate because I want to play with my gadget more. I sometimes leave my work to be very last minute.

14 of 36

Know

What do you want to know and understand?

Be able to

What would success look like? What skills might I use?

How would I make positive change in my community?

  • How people react to GBL
  • If GBL can replace traditional methods
  • I want to know some free games people can visit.
  • I want to be confident
  • I would be happy that PYPX is done
  • If I make a mistake I can just laugh it of
  • I want people to visit my action plan even if PYPX is already finished.
  • People from all ages can visit my action plan.

What did you do

I choose my topics by my interests and passions like gaming and football. I researched my topics so I know about it. I think my topics are good.

Reflection:

What did you do

  • I got my topic which is Game Based Learning.
  • I also found out my group with Fritz and Yanna
  • I explained my topic in Canva

Know

What do you want to know and understand?

My Success Criteria

  • How people react to GBL
  • If GBL can replace traditional methods
  • I want to know some free games people can visit.

I was successful because…

I conducted a survey to see how people react. I see that people think it is slightly effective. Not many people know what it is. GBL can’t fully replace traditional methods because many people have their own preferences. I found a game that helps people learn more about biology, Cellcraft. It is where you can learn how cells function, and how they were made.

I could’ve improved by…

Finding more information like finding out the difference between GBL and Gamification.

34 of 36

Be able to

What would success look like? What skills might I use?

My Success Criteria

  • I want to be confident
  • I would be happy that PYPX is done
  • If I make a mistake I can just laugh it off

I was successful because…

I was happy PYPX is done and I made a few mistakes but I laughed it off. I was able to show my presentation and I knew my topic.

I could’ve improved by…

Being more confident and not thinking that there are so many people watching.

35 of 36

Action

How would I make a positive change in my community?

My Success Criteria

  • I want people to visit my action plan even if PYPX is already finished.
  • People from all ages can visit my action plan.

I was successful because…

My website, I can update it, if I can find a new game, I can edit my website and add that game for people to visit. My website isn’t that hard to read so most of the age groups can read it.

I could’ve improved by…

I need to make my design better because maybe few people can’t read it because of all the colors.

36 of 36

I used to think...

but now I think...

Gamification and Game-Based Learning are the same thing and that we (Domuschola) have both of them.

Gamification and Game-Based Learning (GBL) are different things. GBL is literally learning through games but gamification is learning the topic first then playing a game Edith the knowledge.

PYPX would be super hard, I have to concentrate a lot and I would want to get it over with.

PYPX is really fun, I don’t have to work too hard and I can just be chill and I can enjoy my presentation.
