Community Learning Days (CLDs) are designed to offer students the flexibility to explore their interests and build community with students and staff from across the Da Vinci Schools

What are they?

What are Community Learning Days?

WHAT: Days where you can explore your interests, expand your learning through on- or off- campus learning experiences.

WHEN: There are 4 CLD’s this year:

    • Friday, October 11, 2024
    • Friday, November 8, 2024
    • Monday, February 10, 2025
    • Monday, April 21, 2025

On-campus programming runs from 8:30 - 12:30 (breakfast and lunch provided)

  • Learn with students from across at 5 Da Vinci High Schools
  • Explore new learning experiences
  • Pursue personal interests
  • Seek additional academic support
  • Form new bonds and friendships
  • Opportunity to catch up on work or get ahead on assignments
  • Experience the benefits of “leaving to learn” (service learning, community service, internships, college and career visits)

Community Learning Days are all about Options!

A Student Survey will be launched during the week of September 5th for students to make selections about what they would like their first CLD to look like on October 11th

Options:

ON-CAMPUS: Engage in a learning experience on-campus (series of options will be shared in the survey)

The options below (off-campus) require parent/guardian permission:

OFF-CAMPUS:

  1. “Leave to learn” and engage in a learning experience off campus - independently (i.e. college visit, service learning, job shadow, internship, etc.)
  2. Complete work from home - get caught up or get ahead!

Students will be notified of their approved selection the week of September 23rd

Potential On-Campus Options

  • Explore and engage with hands-on equipment in the Ceramics Studio, CTE Lab, shop materials, and learn how to use advanced tools like laser cutters and 3D printers
  • College and career workshops
  • Deepdive into a life topic such as Financial Literacy
  • Other planned offerings that will be shared in the coming weeks!!!

Location: 201 N. Douglas

+Transportation for RISE and Connect students

+Various staff members from across all campuses will be present at 201 during CLD’s to ensure students have familiar faces on campus

September 5

Take Student Survey - Options/Choices for October CLD; includes on-campus options and the option to work from home*

  • At the beginning of September, permission slips will be given to any students requesting to learn off campus

September 23-27

Students receive notice of enrollment within one of their selected workshops (on-campus) OR receive approval to engage in an off-campus learning experience (permission slip required)

CLD Survey 2

In survey 1, we gathered your preferences for the types of workshops you were interested in. Since then, the staff have begun to develop workshops based on your interests. This survey will ask you for your specific workshop selection.

Students who wish to participate in an independent off-campus activity must return a signed permission slip for approval.

If a student selects to participate in an independent off-campus activity and DOES NOT receive permission, they will be asked to select one of the on-campus options
