Chapter Leaders play an important role in empowering volunteers.
In recognition to our student leaders, scholarships are available after meeting specific eligibility criteria.

Important TeleBrigade Scholarship Information
USA/Canada Chapter Leader Scholarships
The following criteria applies to all scholarships awarded by Global Brigades USA.
Scholarship Value
A TeleBrigade scholarship goes towards the awardee’s fundraising goal for their donation goal for a TelebBigade to either Honduras or Panama, based on where their TeleBrigade is volunteering. The scholarship amount is based on the current year’s donation goal for the TeleBrigade country and the TeleBrigade’s recruitment level. Scholarships cannot be redeemed for cash.
Scholarship Transferability
Awarded scholarships can be applied toward your fundraising goal, other volunteers’ fundraising goals, or donated back to Global Brigades to help us achieve our Empowered 100 goal.
Scholarship Expiration
The TeleBrigade Leader Scholarship must be utilized for the TeleBrigade that the scholarship was awarded for. These scholarships cannot be postponed or transferred to future TeleBrigades or In-Person Brigade.

Scholarship Description
A TeleBrigade’s Leader who plans their chapter’s TeleBrigade may be eligible to receive a scholarship to go towards their Donation Goal based on the recruitment for their program.
Award Process
Once the TeleBrigade Leader meets all of the eligibility criteria for the TeleBrigade Leader Scholarship, the TeleBrigade Leader will be eligible to be awarded the scholarship at the Final Donation Goal Deadline. Contact your Program Associate to have your fundraising goal updated to reflect your scholarship award.
Eligibility Criteria
The TeleBrigade Leader must meet all of the following criteria.
MEET VOLUNTEER MINIMUM
The TeleBrigade Leader must recruit the minimum number of volunteers required for their scheduled TeleBrigade (outlined on the next slide).
MEET TELEBRIGADE PLANNING DEADLINES
The TeleBrigade must meet their Initial Donation Goal, Roster and Final Donation Goal deadlines.

How do I determine if I am the TeleBrigade Leader?
The TeleBrigade Leader is the main point of contact for the TeleBrigade that works directly with the Program Associate. If there are several TeleBrigade Co-Leaders, only one TeleBrigade Leader scholarship will be awarded and the scholarship amount can be split among the Co-Leaders’ fundraising goals if the Co-Leaders choose.
What happens to my scholarship if I fall below the volunteer minimum?
The scholarship is not awarded until the Final Donation Goal deadline, however, if your TeleBrigade’s volunteer number falls below the volunteer minimum required at this point, reach out to your Program Associate for volunteer recruitment resources.
Do I still get my scholarship if my TeleBrigade cancels?
The TeleBrigade Leader Scholarship is only applicable for the TeleBrigade that met the scholarship eligibility criteria. If this TeleBrigade re-schedules, the scholarship would no longer apply and you would need to meet the eligibility criteria for the new TeleBrigade that is scheduled.

Scholarship Description
A Medical Chapter who recruits specific types of Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) to participate in their TeleBrigade may have their HCP be eligible to receive 1 Donation Goal scholarship per HCP to go toward their Donation Goals for the TeleBrigade.
Award Process
Once the TeleBrigade Leader and HCP meet all of the eligibility criteria for the HCP Scholarship, the HCP will be eligible to be awarded the scholarship at the Final Donation Goal Deadline. Contact your Program Associate to have your fundraising goal updated to reflect your scholarship award.

Undergraduate University Medical Chapters are eligible to receive 1 Donation Goal scholarships for certain HCP types (see list on following slide).

Can our Medical Chapter receive more than 1 Donation Goal Scholarship?
If all of the eligibility criteria are met, the chapter can receive a Donation Goal Scholarship for each Healthcare Professional (HCP) recruited. The HCP must be a HCP type listed on the previous slide. The maximum number of HCPs that can be recruited for a TeleBrigade is 9, having their consult time during the live clinic session reduced, potentially to 1 hour. The HCP Scholarship is only available for undergraduate university chapters.
What happens to the scholarship if the chapter falls below recruiting 15 volunteers?
The scholarship is not awarded until the Final Donation Goal deadline, however, if your TeleBrigade’s volunteer number falls below 15 at this point, reach out to your Program Associate for volunteer recruitment resources.
Does my HCP still get the scholarship if my TeleBrigade cancels?
The HCP Scholarship is only applicable for the TeleBrigade that met the scholarship eligibility criteria. If this TeleBrigade re-schedules, the scholarship would no longer apply and you would need to meet the eligibility criteria for the new TeleBrigade that is scheduled.
Does my Chapter receive the scholarship for HCPs referred by Global Brigades?
Healthcare Professionals that are referred to a chapter by Global Brigades do not count toward a Medical chapter’s count of recruited HCPs.

Faculty Scholarship
USA/Canada Chapter Leader Scholarships
Scholarship Description
A University Chapter that recruits a university faculty member to participate in their TeleBrigade or a TeleBrigade led by a Faculty member, may be eligible to receive 1 Donation Goal scholarship per faculty to go toward Donation Goals for their TeleBrigade.
Award Process
Once the TeleBrigade Leader meets all of the eligibility criteria for the Faculty Scholarship, the Faculty member will be eligible to be awarded the scholarship at the Final Donation Goal Deadline. Contact your Program Associate to have your fundraising goal updated to reflect your scholarship award.
