  • Cooling centre: An air-conditioned public facility where people may go for relief during periods of extreme heat.

  • Forms of cooling centres:
    • Formal/Official
    • Informal
    • Inside/Indoors
    • Outside/Outdoors

Optimised access to Cooling Centres

  • You will learn:
    • Distances people may travel to access cooling centres
      • Network analytical tools
        • Allocate to existing facilities-Assign demand to facilities based on the capacity at the facility and the amount of demand from the surrounding area
        • Minimise travel- Choose facilities so the overall travel time or distance from all demand locations to their assigned facility is minimised.
