Nouns (countable and uncountable)

Usage

A countable noun is anything that can be counted. An uncountable noun is something that cannot have a plural ‘s’ added such as water, milk and food.

At the market, I bought lots of apples.

There are lots of books on the bookshelf.

There is milk in the fridge.

Usage

Use subject pronouns as the subject of the verb.

Use the present simple to describe habits and routines and to give facts about things.

Plural nouns

Usage

Plural nouns are words used to show more than one person, animal, thing, or idea. To make most nouns plural we add an –s on the end. Some words have different endings (-es, -ies, -ves).

Alia has two aunts and four cousins.

My dad reads me three stories at bedtime.

There are green leaves on the tree.

I wash the dishes
