Welcome once again to our first live family webinar! Thank you for joining us tonight!

I will begin by introducing myself. My name is Jennifer De Anda and I am proud to work with our students and school sites as the Director of Elementary Education. I will be the host for tonight.

Now we will review some norms to help our online meeting run smoothly.

First we want to honor your time and commit to starting an ending on time.

At the bottom of your screen you should see a mute button - the one with the microphone. Please be sure that you are muted during the meeting to help us ensure that the sound is the highest quality for all.

You see a couple of other button at the bottom of your screen. The chat feature will be used for technology related questions to this zoom meeting. For example, if you are having trouble with your sound or video, use this button for support.

Throughout the night we will be giving you information about Google Classroom and other distance learning tools. If you have questions about our content or the presentation, please use the Q&A button at the bottom of your screen. We will be responding to most of the Q&A questions throughout the meeting and some will be addressed at the end.

Also at the end of the meeting, we will have open question time for you to raise your hand. You will be called on to unmute yourself to ask your questions verbally to our staff.

Finally, this is our first live meeting! We are excited and nervous that the technology works well for us. We appreciate your support while we are learning!

Distance Learning Basics

If you are using a home computer, please make sure you are using Google Chrome.
If you have previously used Chrome, please make sure you have a profile created specifically for your student’s RiversideUnified.org account. Quick video can be found here!
If your student is using a District Chromebook, they will be signed in with their RiversideUnified.org account already so accessing the resources we are talking about will be much easier.

How do I access Google Classroom?

Students can access Google Classroom through Clever at bit.ly/rusdclever.

Using Google Chrome, go to bit.ly/rusdclever in the address bar
Click Log in with Riversideunified.org account.
Make sure to sign in with your student’s RiversideUnified.org Google Account

Explain a little about Clever Portal

Clever is a website that the District uses to quickly access many of educational tools. Clever is great because it makes it easy to sign in on most of the tools, like Google Classroom!
Most of your student’s know what Clever is because they use it on their Chromebooks in Class and now at home.
Clever also allows the District to securely share information with specific websites and applications to ensure that the correct people have access to the correct programs.

It’s easy for many of our students to access Clever because it is the homepage when your student is signed into Google Chrome with their RiversideUnified.org account on a Chromebook. If you’re using a home computer, don’t worry! Your student can also sign into a Google Chrome with their RiversideUnified.org account and that will make accessing Clever as easy as it is on a Chromebook. You can also access Clever using the bitly above. What a Bit.ly? A bitly is a shorten website address to make it easier to remember how to get somewhere on the internet. Type that bit.ly into your address bar and it’ll take you directly to Clever. Be careful though. Bitly addresses are case sensitive so make sure you use lowercase letters for everything in this address.

When you get to the Clever login page, click the Login with Riversideunified.org account button. If you are already signed in with your student’s RiversideUnified.org account on the Chromebook or in Google Chrome then it will move right along. If you need help with your student’s login credentials, please feel free to contact our support hotline listed at the end of this presentation.

How do I get a Google Classroom class code?

Classroom codes are provided by the teacher.
If your student does not have a Google Classroom class, please email the teacher to have them added.
