Reading at Home

Your child will bring home a bookmark for you to fill in at home and receive rewards accordingly.

The book mark will be in their reading diary for you to use to record any reading and where we will also record reading done in school.

Children can read books from home as well as borrow books from school.

Books should be returned every day, however it is especially important on a Monday so that we can change them.

Phonic sounds will regularly be sent home to practice if requested. This will follow on from the learning that the children have done in phonics that week.

Maths homework is to be completed on Numbots (from September) and Times Table Rockstars (after Christmas).

Home Learning

8 of 11

We continually check your child has understood their learning and given support if necessary.

They will be given quizzes at the end of units to check their understanding and to identify any areas that they may need help in.

More formal SATs style tests are administered in Autumn, Spring and Summer. These are a very useful and prepare the children well for future assessment. Once again, they also help us to see if there are any areas in which they may need help.

These are administered sensitively and without pressure and most children enjoy them.

Communication

I will be in school each morning to greet your child however, this is not the best time to speak to me as I will be busy with the children. If it is an essential piece of information that I will need to be informed of for the day, please pass this to the school office.

I am free to speak after school and it is best to contact the school office to arrange a meeting to do this. Please do not hesitate to communicate any concerns that you may have. My email address is year2teachers@parksideprimary.org

I look forward to working with you this school year to support your child.
