At the end of each route, drivers return any pickups back to the terminal for sortation.

Sortation Area – All TerminalsThe sortation area is separated into 2 sections:�On the right side are routes/stop that originate out of PDX.�On the left side are stops that will be transferred to other terminals on nightly linehauls (Sun-Thurs). The receiving terminal will then sort by route/stop.�Empty bins are collected and staged in the back.�

PDX Sortation Area – Fine SortIn PDX, all bags are sorted down to the route and then to the individual stop (“fine sort”).�

Driver Staging Area - Consolidation

Once the nightly sort (Sun-Thurs) has been completed, the bins will be transferred to the driver’s staging area to be consolidated with all of the freight for the following day’s deliveries.

Driver Staging Area – Load Scan

Before the driver departs the terminal to begin the route, a “load scan” will be performed on each bag to account for every item being delivered.
