Asynchronous learning
What we learned in Denmark:
Asynchronous learning: learning that is happening in different locations or at different times. Allows children to learn on their own schedule, within a certain timeframe at their own pace and level.
The term typically refers to teacher-pupil or peer-to-peer learning interactions.
Most commonly applied to online and digital learning in which children learn from instruction (pre recorded video or game based learning tasks) that they complete independently. (Virtual school!)
Our challenge: How can we apply this to a Primary setting when children are in school all day?

How did we trial Asynchronous learning?
Research project focused on examining the possible benefits of asynchronous learning post virtual school.
Year 6 - Guided Reading
Focus: Task based on developing children's inference skills but the activity could be adapted to suit any subjects and learning objectives.
Method: Split children into mixed ability pairs and assign to a task.
Activity and explanation on Seesaw.
Time limit: 30 minutes.
Children choose how to present their work and select their own learning area in the school to complete the task independently. No teacher input.

Options: Voice note, write a dialogue, act and record.
The power of QR CODES!

Great tool for asynchronous learning. Print out codes and put them up in different places around the school.
If staying in the class - display QR codes on smartboard. Children can then access activity or ‘instructions’ multiple times.
Can be used for all lessons and a quick and easy way to take the learning out of the classroom and ensure engagement.
