Haere! - Have a go! | Rēwena 5Bread Look at this Recipe on Māori Bread. Read the recipe and replace the English food words with Te reo Māori Words. Go to Māori Dictionary and rewrite the recipe with the replaced māori words. | Furry Potter Listen to the story about Furry Potter . Your Turn Write your own instructions for a destination. It could include instructions like turn left, right,go back 2 steps, See if your buddy can follow your instructions to get to your destination. | Pī Coding Click here, can you use the words ‘up’, ‘down’, ‘left’ and ‘right’ to write the directions for the pī (bee) to get to the hive. Then see if you can create your own pī maze for a friend to solve. Can you say the directions in Māori? | Waiata/Kanikani Watch the video of the following waiata to learn the kupu(words) and mahi-a-ringa (actions) for song. You may wish to pick your own song |
2.3 I seek out help from an appropriate person in the class when I find a task challenging | String Games String games are a traditional Māori game. Research some like cup & saucer, witches broom and a diamond. Whakamatauria - try it out! | Greetings & Farewells Research/Write down as many greeting & farewell questions and responses as possible. Video you and a friend having a chat in Te Reo. This could be as simple as Ata Marie/ Apopo. Or more complex conversations such as Kia Ora/Kei te pēhea koe? | He Rākau Raukawa Tēnei Read “This is a Raukawa Tree”. Can you draw a picture of the Raukawa tree and label the parts of it using the Māori kupu from the story? Find some Epic stories about trees/forests so you can practice your new kupu. Who could help you with the difficult kupu? | Multiplication Expert Practice your multiplication. Start with your 2x, 5x and 10x first. Are you able to create arrays (diagrams) that represent these multiplication facts? E.g. For 2x5=10 you could do 2 rows of 5 counter OR draw 2 jars that each have 5 lollies in them etco. | Pepeha He wero mau (A challenge for you). Get a friend to test you on your pepeha. Write/draw a list of choices you could use to help you. | Can you follow the expectations of speedy facts Choose a speedy basic facts. Set a timer for 2 minutes. Complete as many questions as you can in 2 mins. Ask someone to mark it. How many did you get right? Use the powerpoint to help you gather ideas for an adventure that you might go on with a friend. If you were in the bush or on a hunting trip.
