COMBATING

YOUTH

HOMELESSNESS

2 of 15

Everyday in Seattle, commuters pass by 1,500 young

adults that don’t have a home. We walk right past them, unaware of the struggles they are going through.

We need a wake up call. It’s time that we listen to their stories.

THE PROJECT

4 of 15

Homeless youth need advocates in Seattle. To make sure our teens get the attention they need, let’s give them a more powerful, local voice to tell their story.

We’ll document a homeless youth’s story and ask a local musician (ex. Macklemore) to turn the story into a song, and then release it to the public on local radio stations, like KEXP.

Each song will collect donations through iTunes downloads, and we’ll document the full story behind each song online.

RESULTS

THE CASE STUDY

12 of 15

To help our case study that people don’t listen to the homeless, we will place the original story/video online from the beginning. As we progress through the project, we will note how little people view the story.

We will then record a video of our singer/songwriter telling the story as a prelude to the music video. We will note the difference between his views vs our original story in order to show how homeless youth often go unheard.
