ASB- ASSOCIATED STUDENT BODY

What is ASB?

In the 2024-2025 school year, our ASB class is determined to exhibit school spirit, inclusivity, and community by giving a voice to the student body, demonstrating Cougar PRIDE on campus, and making opportunities for different classes to connect with each other..

Class Expectations

  • Service Hours- You will need to complete a minimum of 100 service hours throughout the school year (12.5 each grading period).
  • Attendance- You must have good attendance.
  • Attendance at Events- You must attend the events that we put on for our student body.
  • Positive Representation of NMHS both on and off-campus as well as on social media.
  • Attend a retreat in June (date TBD) to begin planning Welcome Back Assembly

ASB Officer Positions

To run for ASB, you must:

  • Be a Junior or Senior during the year which you will serve
  • Have taken at least one year of a Leadership class
  • Not have any suspensions
  • Maintain a 2.0 while running for and serving in office, if elected

Exceptions for Secretary, Treasurer, and Student Board Representative:

  • Secretary and Treasurer are interview positions. Students who apply for this position are interviewed by Ms. Canales and the newly elected ASB officers
  • Students who run for Board Representative do not have to have any previous leadership experience. Election timeframe

Class Officer Positions

If elected, Class Officers will act as the voice of the class that they are representing. It is important to listen to your peers and do your best to create a memorable experience at NMHS.

Part of your job will include planning and implementing events for your class including fundraising, skit, and spirit weeks.

Events and Activities are planned by committees split amongst two classes. Please see the videos for more information about each committee

Important Dates:

January 10th- Applications released and Google Classroom access granted

January 24th @5pm- Officer applications due January 31st @11:59pm- All campaign videos, speeches due on Google Classroom

Feb 3rd-7th ELECTIONS WEEK

  • Feb 3rd- Campaigning Begins ALL CAMPAIGN INFORMATION MUST BE APPROVED BY MS. CANALES
  • Feb 4th-Meet the Candidates
  • Feb. 7th- 8:00am-2pm- Elections. Newly elected officers announced end of 6th

  • January 25th- Applications released and receive access to Google Classroom.
  • January 28th- Applications due to the Activities Office by 5:00pm.
  • February 3rd- All speeches, videos, and slides due on Google Classroom by 11:59pm
  • February 7th-11th- Elections Week
  • February 7th- Campaigning begins
  • February 7th- Meet the Candidate videos and speeches will be sent out
  • February 8th- Class of 2024 Q&A @ lunch
  • February 9th- ASB/Class of 2025 Q&A @ lunch
  • February 10th- Class of 2023 Q&A @ lunch
  • February 11th- Election Day
  • February 15th- Committee applications due
  • February 15th-25th- ASB Interviews for ASB Secretary, Treasurer, committee heads, and committee members
  • March 1st- ASB acceptance letters sent out
