Creating Catch-Up Plans

with Sarah (ELA 11) & Amanda (ELA 7)

2 of 8

Consider This...

  • What is essential for the assessment/standards?
  • What can be skipped?
  • Do I want to unlock prerequisites for assessments?
  • How will my students access the plan?

*Remember, this is separate from retakes/AIPs/assessment corrections.

Amanda's Process

What can I excuse?

What is necessary?

What is easy to understand?

How can I scaffold via email AND 1:1 meeting (depending on kiddo)?

Basic Options:

Within edio

(prioritize lessons)

(Amanda's skip/exempt code: L3259532)

Outside of edio

(padlets, shared docs, etc)

Some Strategies To Consider

Within Edio

  • Chapter/Topic Summaries/Study Guide Assessments in 1 lesson, checkbox/skip lesson in the rest
  • Force Submit lessons for students that they can skip

Outside of Edio

  • Email a personalized task list to ST/CT/LST with links to documents & work to complete (a full list or periodically)
  • Hold your work in a padlet or other sharing tool and provide access via your homepage in edio

How can you make it work for you?

Elementary

Include CTs for helping STs, chunk lots of work into smaller parts, target assessed skills, include pictures/steps/sample work when possible

Middle

Summarize content, include CTs to help STs stay on track, chunk lots of work into reasonable parts

High School

Quick explanations, include CTs so they are informed, lay out suggested plan of completion

Content Specific

Consider your content: Does it build from unit to unit? Do the topics jump around? Are there portions of your unit that are never assessed?
