SHUTTER SPEED PHOTO
I thought this was the best photo I took for the shutter speed project. The reason being is the background is very clear and I believe I captured the shot at a great moment. Furthermore, I believe that this photo really met the goals or the main objective of the shutter speed photo project compared to the other photos I captured.
DEPTH OF FIELD
I thought this was the best depth of field photo, as this was really unique with the candles inside the lanterns. This photo and “the lanterns” are really unique, and I thought with it being dark, it portrayed some sort of message. Also, the candles really add to the photos and makes the whole photo. This is compared to the other photos with the wine glasses. Although those were nice photos those didn’t stand out not “say anything” like this image. My favorite thing about photography, is that some images are open up to interpretation. I believe this photo is open to interpretation and may have many hidden messages. Even though they’re just light up /electronic candles within these lanterns, there is so much more to it. I also like the narrow depth of field, as it focuses on the pink on, with the candle lit up.
ENVIRONMENTAL PORTRAIT
From the environmental project I had a lot of fun taking the photo shoot, and I think this is the best picture I took. This is because, I really think I got the dupatta ( indian scarf), in the right moment, and the subject’s face as well looking like she is having fun and it fits the whole theme and personality of the subject being proud of her ethnicity/being Indian.
“Being Indian is struggling to find your identity,” Kodali said. “Growing up, I believed that I needed to have blond hair and blue eyes in order to be pretty, wearing Indian clothes out in public was embarrassing, and that speaking any language other than english was weird. I hated having tan skin and black hair which made me stick out from my peers. I felt that in order to be normal, I needed to conform to the white american way of living. Whether that was changing the pronunciation of my name or never bringing Indian food for school lunch. It took me many many years to realize that I am beautiful regardless of my ethnicity, however I did go through many struggles to be happy with who I am.”
Overall, this really adds to the message of acceptance and being proud, and not trying to hide away.
I took this photo while using manual mode and it was at a park.
SEASON PHOTO
For the seasons and weather photo, I went through a process of how I can take a photo which is not posed and also how the weather is expressing and affecting people. I noticed people were kayaking. I feel like this photo was the best one, in terms of really telling a story. I think this could be great for a summer spread or feature story. For example: “Kayaking at Gallup,” “Summer activities to do during COVID,” or Something along the lines of that. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get much closer and people didn’t get closer, however this was the best picture I took and I think it does tell a story or could accompany a story. It does the job. Additionally, I think the plant on the side adds to the picture.
I also shot this in manual mode
BEST PHOTO 1 (Sorry I couldn’t choose just one)
THE GREAT BLUE HERON!!
I love this photo and am very proud of it. I took a lot of time and effort into taking this photo and it turned out amazing! I am so glad I was able to find this Heron, and capture the angle. It really focuses on it and its resting stage.
Best Photo 2
I love this photo and think its a great. It again, as mentioned on the EP slide, focuses on the subject and their whole personality. Adding the dupatta really added to and enhanced the meaning.
Shooting the EP’s were very difficult but it was just another photo/ the other amazing photo that I was proud of!
