Why Culturally Responsive Pedagogy?

  • What is Culturally Responsive Pedagogy, and how does it relate to instructional technology integration?
    • Culturally responsive pedagogy is defined in LCPS as a student-centered approach to instruction that respects and affirms all student. It is sustained through reflective and inclusive practices, high expectations and rigor for every student.
    • 5 C’s - critical thinkers, communicators, collaborators, creators, and contributors.
    • Digital tools can be leveraged to:
      • Make curricular materials accessible to all learners
      • Afford opportunities for students to engage in deeper learning opportunities that meet their needs
      • Express their cultural knowledge, background, and identity through multimedia creation
