Teacher/Parent Communication

  • Teacher/parent communication is incredibly important.
  • All of your child’s teachers will be communicating through an app/website called “ParentSquare” this year.
  • During registration you had the opportunity to sign up with ParentSquare.
  • PLEASE be sure your personal contact information is up to date in PowerSchool- this is the only way we can access phone numbers & email addresses.
  • If you need assistance updating this, please let us know & I can get you in touch with the front office.
  • Be on the lookout for weekly important information via ParentSquare this year & never hesitate to reach out to any teachers for questions or concerns throughout the year.

Student Expectations/Character Cards

  • Character Cards are extremely important. They are a daily communication tool between home and school. Please check these daily as they are used for positive and negative behaviors that occur at school.
  • The most important expectations we have are that they come to class prepared with all the materials they need, are respectful with their actions and language, are attentive in classroom and ask questions when they have them.
  • Students will be using lockers this year. They will only access their lockers at the beginning and end of the day.
  • Student cell phones need to remain in their locker all day long.

Work as a Team. All of us are needed.

  • It’s so important that we all work together for the success of your child.
  • To take your child as far academically as possible, it will require effort from the child, the teachers, and the home.
  • Let’s all remember that we have the same goals and we want the same result.
  • Assume best intent.

MISSING WORK! Important!

  • Check PowerSchool for missing work.
  • There will be an orange circle with an exclamation on it to show it is missing.
  • Your child can access any missing work on Google Classroom.

ELA Helpful Hints

  • 6th grade uses a program called “StudySync.”
  • This is always accessed online through your child’s iPad
  • Every child will know how to log in after roughly the second week of school.
  • It does not require a password to log in- you can easily pull it up from your child’s iPad if you are interested in looking at their graded work or tests.
  • 99% of graded reading work is located in StudySync online- NOT in Google Classroom or other platforms.
  • If your child has any missing work in reading- it will be in StudySync.
  • Please see following slides for a visual of what the StudySync assignment pages look like & how you and your child can login.
